How Joel 3 Foretold Hezbollah, Gaza, and the Houthis: The Unfulfilled Prophecy of Tyre, Palestine, and the Sabeans
In 1982, the group known as Hezbollah was formed.
In 1992, the group called Houthis was formed.
But what if I told you in Joel 3, two thousand years before) it was already
prophesied?
Let's read the full text before translating it to modern day.
Joel 3:1–8
For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the
captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of
Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage
Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and
sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.
Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of
Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and
speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head; Because ye have taken
my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant
things: The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold
unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.
Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will
return your recompence upon your own head: And I will sell your sons and your
daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to
the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
Before I name Hezbollah and the Houthis, I must preemptively prove this wasn't
historically fulfilled.
Let's analyze the prophecy:
- A. All nations (on earth. You can't say it's only Mediterranean. All nations
include everyone.)
- B. The army of all nations on this earth is physically in the valley of
Jehoshaphat.
- C. Jews are scattered among the nations and the land of Israel has been
partitioned.
- D. The Lebanese (Tyre and Zidon) and the Palestinians (Modern scholars will
say it's Philistines) have sold Jewish children into slavery to the Greeks.
- E. God returns the Jewish child slaves to Israel.
- F. God sells them to the Yemenis/Sabeans, to a people far off.
Only C has been somewhat fulfilled (Oslo records, but even there, there isn't a
Palestinian state yet). You could claim D was partially or fully fulfilled (but
it is illogical to claim a full fulfillment. The prophecy is in order). If you
claim A to F has been fulfilled, there should be a historical record and genetic
evidence (F.) of this. Yet there is none for either.
For anyone to claim this has been fully fulfilled, A. isn't honest with
themselves or B. doesn't believe there is a God and thinks this was written
retroactively.
Even if you say Philistines is the rightful translation (which would be semantics. See the sidenote), you can't get a perfect 7.
Now to finally translating.
Tyre and Zidon are in modern day Lebanon.
Hezbollah can be seen in the Jew-hating described in Joel 3.
Grecians are the gentiles. When the Apostle Paul talks about the universality of
salvation, he says Greek instead of gentile.
Romans 10:12
“For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord
over all is rich unto all that call upon him.”
In 1982, not Hezbollah specifically but eight Israeli soldiers were kidnapped by
a terrorist cell in the Hamdoun region of Lebanon.
Hezbollah also took hostages on October 7th, 2000.
They kidnapped three who later died.
On July 12, 2006, Hezbollah kidnapped two Israeli soldiers, starting the 2006
war.
Even without saying Hezbollah specifically, the Lebanese population (non
diaspora) absolutely hates Jews.
The coasts of Palestine is Gaza.
Why only Gaza and not Arabs in Judea and Samaria? (West Bank)
That is answered through the modern day. Arabs in Judea and Samaria more or less kill instead of taking hostages.
While West Bank cells have attempted abductions, only coastal Gaza has the underground infrastructure to systematically take and hold hundreds of captives as bargaining chips.
Arabs in Gaza take hostages.
- On June 25, 2006, Gilad Shalit was kidnapped.
- On May 8, 2011, Hisham al-Sayed (Bedouin) wandered into Gaza and was taken
hostage.
- On August 1, 2014, the bodies of two slain Israeli soldiers, Hadar Goldin
and Oron Shaul,,were taken and held hostage.
- On September 7, 2014, Avera Mengistu was taken hostage having accidentally
crossed into Gaza.
- On October 7, 2023, Gaza Arabs invaded Israel and kidnapped 251 hostages.
From 1994 to 2023, 256 people were taken hostage or kidnapped by Gazan Arabs.
And the Sabeans? Modern day Yemen.
Why does this predict the Houthis?
You must ask yourself, why would Yemenis gladly buy and sell Palestinian slaves?
The country of Yemen since October 7th, 2023 has fought a war against Israel for
"Palestine". They've raided cargo ships as a result.
Simply put, under the "Palestinian" supporting Houthi regime, Yemen has become a
very bad place to live. It is one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world.
OCHA infographic
- People in Need at launch (Dec. 2025): 23.1 million
- People Targeted at launch (Dec. 2025): 10.5 million
- Requirements (US$) at launch (Dec. 2025): 2.5 billion
- People urgently prioritized: 8.8 million
- Urgently prioritized requirements (US$): 1.4 billion
Crisis overview
A convergence of conflict, economic decline, and climate shocks, compounded by
shrinking operational space in parts of the country and funding shortfalls,
continues to exacerbate humanitarian needs. In 2026, 23.1 million people,
nearly 65.4 per cent of the population, will need lifesaving humanitarian
assistance and protection services to meet their basic needs and safeguard their
well-being.
This is from 2025 to 2026 alone.
Now, what happens when a global 7-year tribulation takes place and Yemenis are
focused away from Israel?...
What happens when they more or less have been distracted from blaming Israel?
When they've had a long while to meditate on their issues, the past, and the
Houthi regime?
They turn their hatred on what the regime which destroyed them supported so
much: Palestine.
That is how the Bible predicts the Houthis and Hezbollah.
So, allow me to recap. The Bible predicts the Houthis and Hezbollah in Joel 3.
However, Joel 3 has not been fulfilled. When I've shown this to people, they
think I'm saying it's over. It is not! These are only the groups that will be in
the prophecy, the actors in the play! It hasn't been fulfilled.
[Sidenote]
Some people claim that the King James Bible was wrong to translate it that way,
but that's false.
This is from the Dead Sea Scrolls. Scroll 4Q82 Minor Prophets:
“Yes, and what are you to me, Tyre, and Sidon,
and all the regions of Philistia?
Will you repay me?
And if you repay me,
I will swiftly and speedily return your repayment on your own head.
5 Because you have taken my silver and my gold,
and have carried my finest treasures into your temples,
[..]
7 Behold, I will stir them up out of the place where you have sold them,
and will return your repayment on your own head;
8 and I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the children of
Judah,
and they will sell them to the men of Sheba,
to a faraway nation,
for Yahweh has spoken it.”
I don't personally agree with Yahweh over Jehovah, but the person who translated
it that used Yahweh.
This is from the Scroll Wadi Muraba’at Minor Prophets:
4 “Yes, and what are you to me, Tyre, and Sidon,
and all the regions of Philistia?
Will you repay me?
And if you repay me,
I will swiftly and speedily return your repayment on your own head.
5 Because you have taken my silver and my gold,
and have carried my finest treasures into your temples,
6 and have sold the children of Judah and the children of Jerusalem to the sons
of the Greeks,
that you may remove them far from their border.
7 Behold, I will stir them up out of the place where you have sold them,
and will return your repayment on your own head;
8 and I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the children of
Judah,
and they will sell them to the men of Sheba,
to a faraway nation,
for Yahweh has spoken it.”
One of the only Bibles I know of that doesn't agree with the King James Bible is
Brenton's Septuagint:
"4And what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Sidon, and all Galilee of the
Gentiles? do ye render me a recompense? or do ye bear malice against me? quickly
and speedily will I return your recompense on your own heads: 5because ye have
taken my silver and my gold, and ye have brought my choice ornaments into your
temples; 6and ye have sold the children of Juda and the children of Jerusalem to
the children of the Greeks, that ye might expel them from their
coasts. 7Therefore, behold, I will raise them up out of the place whither ye
have sold them, and I will return your recompense on your own heads. 8And I will
sell your sons and your daughters into the hands of the children of Juda, and
they shall sell them into captivity to a far distant nation: for the Lord has
spoken it."
But the Brenton translation is based upon the Codex Vaticanus, a 4th-century
manuscript.
The Dead Sea Scrolls are earlier and use the reading found in the King James
Bible.
Emperor Hadrian renamed Israel to the Greek and latin terms for Philistia, which was Syria Palaestina. There is nothing wrong with the King James Bible saying Palestine.
