How to hear from God

How to hear from God

Posted on April 13, 2018 Updated on April 13, 2018

Memorise: “And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12).

Read: 1 Kings 19:9-12

Whenever God sends a message, always remember that the message is greater and more important than the messenger or courier. According to Psalm 119:89 , God’s Word is forever settled in Heaven. What has been settled in Heaven cannot be dismantled on earth. When Elisha sent a message through his servant to Naaman who waited outside his house, the captain of the Syrian army was disappointed (2 Kings 5:9-12).

He expected that the man of God would come to him but he did not. He expected that he would lay hands on him but he did not. He also expected him to perform some acrobatic display, at least to convince everyone that he was making attempt to cure the leper, but he did not do this. He argued that even if he had to go to wash in some river, was it not better to go to the neatest which were outside Israel?

God’s solutions do not always follow conventional methods. That God solved a particular problem in a particular way does not suggest that is the only way He would solve such problems. The bottom line is when you give God a problem to solve, also give Him the freedom to choose the mode of solving it. If you expect God to solve that problem through the method you deem best, it will be a surprise if He does not disappoint you.

“And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice” (1 Kings 19:12). When Elijah ran from Jezebel, he sought to meet with God in a cave on mount Horeb. God passed by and a great strong wind tore the mountains into pieces, then an earthquake and a fire: but God was not in any of them.

Today, many believers still feel that until they fall under the anointing or are slain in the Spirit, nothing has happened to them. They want to see some religious gymnastics! It is the presence of God and His Word that make the difference, not the gymnastics. Even some preachers do not know better. While praying for people, some of them deliberately push down those they are praying for whereas by merely speaking the Word, the anointing that will bring about the change is released.

Although laying on of hands is good and biblical, there are many blessings that will come to you through other media. All that is required is for you to release your faith. Faith is key to receiving all your blessings.

Some people fake the anointing, some its effects and others its testimonies. Don’t get caught up in any form of manipulation in the Name of the Lord.
