Human Trafficking - Jewell Utt

A crisis abounds in our world. It’s also in the US, in our states and in your community. You may name several causes before you arrive at human trafficking, but the fact is, it’s the second largest criminal activity next to the sale of drugs.

Gangs, pimps, cartels, organized crime have noticed this lucrative venture. We need to open our eyes, too! Drugs and weapons can be sold one time, but the human body can be sold over and over again. Imagine the horrors of a coerced child.

Human trafficking can be in the form of labor or commercial sexual exploitation. Sex trafficking is a form of modern-day  slavery in which a commercial sex act is induced by force, fraud, or coercion, or in which the person induced to perform such an act is under the age of 18 years.[1]

A small group can raise awareness and implement huge change. How can you help? This is a question that should not cause you to shrink back. Instead it should mobilize you into action.

Victims are arrested 90% of the time. When buyers and sellers, those who manipulate the minds and terrorize the hearts of their victims, should be the ones prosecuted.

Lawmakers and agencies are working on this evil and making an impact. The US has made great strides in their efforts over the past five years. Unfortunately, so much more needs to be accomplished. Pray, raise your awareness, and tell others. Learn to spot a crime.

We have the power of God. If we don’t step forward to help as a community, who will?

… “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Matthew 22:37-39

“Human trafficking is a highly complex, multi-dimensional problem which implicates social, economic, education, health, and political and criminological sectors in societies where it occurs.”  (Worldvision 2009)

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1

Watching God Work is Amazing - Jewell Utt

Community Blend has come a long way in 2021. With the undergirding of our powerful prayer team, we struggled through the nonprofit paperwork, anxiously awaited confirmation and acceptance to become a 501c3, enlisted a Board of Directors, volunteers, gained financial support, secured a location, purchased all equipment needed to open, and held our first event. A success!
