In New Jerusalem We Enjoy God as our Light 43-2-1

New JerusalemIn the Bible darkness is a type of punishment. God punished the Egyptians with a thick darkness for three days (Exo. 10:22), and in the future God will punish the Antichrist and his kingdom with darkness (Rev. 16:10). Part of the enjoyment in the New Jerusalem is that there will be no night. The city will be full of light, and this light is God the Father. He will not only be the nature of the New Jerusalem, but He will also be the shining light as an enjoyment to the entire city. The first enjoyment in the New Jerusalem is God as our light.*

“There will be no night” in New Jerusalem (Rev. 21:25). But don’t worry about how you will sleep. In the Bible sleep is a picture of physical death. We sleep because of our mortal bodies. But they will be transfigured to bodies of glory when the Lord returns.

The resurrection life will then saturate us and there will be no need for sleep. Everything of death or related to death will be in the lake of fire (Rev. 20:14).

And do not worry about being bored. We can receive now and will certainly receive then the “abundance of grace” (Rom. 5:17) and “the bountiful supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ” (Phil. 1:19). We will be fully captured by God as our enjoyment.

Do You Feel Accepted or Rejected?

I went to bed, pulled the covers over my head, and had a big ole pity party. Once again, I had been rejected…come in second place…told I wasn’t quite what “they” were looking for. The scarlet letter loomed large. It wasn’t an A like Hester Prynne’s in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s book I had read in high school, but a big fat R that I chose to wear when life turned ugly. Read more...

    Sleeping and Waiting

Sleep is crucial to our health. It’s our body’s time to restore itself and make sure we’re ready for the day ahead! Waiting, in a way, is like the “sleep” portion of our faith. While we wait, God works. And imagine all the incredible work He’s doing!
