Is Romans 10 Only for Jews? A Seven-Point Refutation of Robert Breaker's Tribulation Salvation Doctrine

[Introduction]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbCAQStFbdQ

Robert Breaker has a belief which he says at points (see Romans 10: The Skeleton Key to 1 Corinthians 15, Romans 3, Acts 8, Acts 16, and Matthew 15) that Romans 10 is for Jews.

LLMs and other people have now thought that Dr. Ruckman taught this doctrine, and I have been told that it has taken root in the King James Bible Only Christian community.

This is a thorough debunking of it.

Note: I know Robert Breaker motte-and-baileys at the end that "Well, let's look at it and apply it to us. And the whole context is the way you call upon the Lord today is by faith. And it's your faith that calls on God."

(See sources for every quote timestamp).

There is no verse in the Bible that says calling is an automatic heart response.

And, if you quote 2 Timothy 2:22 “Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”

It says, "out of a pure heart"; remember what the Lord wrote. "Out" in Christ's speeches always meant a physical action, which would mean that if 2 Timothy 2:22 means calling upon God in a salvific manner and not regular praying, it would be a prayer spoken out of your heart with your mouth.

Matthew 12:34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

Matthew 12:35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

Matthew 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

Mark 7:19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

Mark 7:21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

Luke 6:45 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

How can you say Romans 10 is for Jews, but then say we can apply it salvifically for us?

It is or isn't about Jews, as I have seen people write, "Full stop!"

The Bible and Robert Breaker agree with this. Jeremiah 6:16

"Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein."

"We're walking and talking about how we're living in the day and age of apostasy, and boy, are we in that day and age of apostasy. So they shall fall among them that fall. At the time that I visit them, they shall be cast down, saith the Lord.

Thus saith the Lord, stand ye in the ways and see and ask for the what? The old paths. Where is the good way and walk therein? And you shall find rest for your souls. Well, Jesus talks about that, salvation, rest for your souls. But they said, 'We will not walk therein.'

And we're seeing some people today that they piss on the flag, if you will, of the old-time way and they say, 'We don't want the old-time way.' And then they call what we're preaching the old-time path, the old path, the old-time way new and modern because what they have, they claim, is older. It's classic projection, classic transference." - Robert Breaker, Faith in the Blood is NOT a Modern Doctrine starting at 3:45

Well, the Bible believers in the 4th century, whose commentaries are the first we can find on Romans 10 that aren't from Origen or Ambrosiaster that discuss Romans 10, all directly link calling to praying.

The idea that calling is an automatic heart response, as far as I know, first comes from H.A. Ironside; see my "The 52 Witnesses: A Complete Fact-Check of Robert Breaker’s ‘Saved by Your Prayer?’ John R. Rice through D.L. Moody."

I do not deny that H.A. Ironside said this, even if he did not position the blood of Jesus Christ as his object of faith, as Breaker does; see my "Robert Breaker's Salvation Theology Is a Modern Doctrine." However, the idea that calling is an automatic heart response is a modern idea dating to the 20th century.

While the idea that the calling of Romans 10 is a prayer is directly findable in the 4th century.

“Necessarily he set forth ‘those who call upon him.’ For God does not give grace without discernment, extending it even to those who are unwilling to offer so much to the Benefactor as at least to ask and pray with him. And lest anyone say that many fail to call upon the Lord Jesus out of ignorance rather than unbelief and ingratitude, he shows through what follows that God took away even the excuse of their ignorance, sending evangelists and heralds who urge and invite them to ask for the gift. Therefore he added what follows.” - Diodorus of Tarsus/Diodore of Tarsus, Romans 10:11-13, 4th century.

"We have despised God, we have hated that good Name, we have trodden Christ under foot, we have lost all reverence, none names the Name of God with honor. Yet if you love any one, even at his name you start to your feet; but God you thus continually invoke, and make nothing of it. Call upon Him for the benefit of your enemy; call upon Him for THE SALVATION of your own soul; then he will be present, then you will delight Him; whereas now you provoke Him to anger. Call upon Him as Stephen did; "Lord," he said, "lay not this sin to their charge." [Acts 7:59] Call upon Him as did the wife of Elkanah, with tears and sobs, and prayers. [1 Samuel 1:10] I prevent you not, rather I earnestly exhort you to it. Call upon him as Moses called upon Him, yea, cried, interceding for those who had driven him into banishment." - John Chrysostom, Homily 10 on the Acts of the Apostles, 4th century.

This article is a seven point rebuttal to that idea.

1. Where is the works + faith tribulation salvation doctrine in Romans 10?

Revelation 12:11

“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.”

Revelation 14:12

“Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.”

Salvation in the tribulation comes from having to keep your head chopped off, and keeping the commandments.

Revelation 20:4 “And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”

Matthew 24:13 “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

Why does he describe salvation as a process in that verse? Because in the tribulation, you have to suffer through the AntiChrist's systems, and get beheaded to be saved.

That is faith plus works gospel.

What does Romans 10 say?

He starts the chapter describing the modern state of Jews. And notice that they are being ignorant of God's righteousness.

Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

2For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

3For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

4For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Paul then contrasts the works of the laws, and what Jews do and the accesibility of salvation through Christ Jesus.

5For Moses describeth the righteousness which is of the law, That the man which doeth those things shall live by them.

6But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, Say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:)

7Or, Who shall descend into the deep? (that is, to bring up Christ again from the dead.)

8But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

He makes another comparison to Moses (Deuteronomy 30:14 which was about doing the law) and to Christ (Moses said Christ would be like him Deuteronomy 18:15) but he makes a new application of Moses word to describe the two step formula of Romans 10:9, which he is about to expound upon.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

What did Christ say that Tribulation saints must do to be saved? Endure to the end.

What does Revelation say? They overcame Satan and were saved because of their works, of not loving their lives. Not believing and confessing.

What is Paul saying here you must do to be saved? Believe and confess. And he is comparing the law and the works you do with the law to the accessibility and free gift of God in Christ Jesus.

Why would Paul be making this point if he's talking about the works + faith of the Seven Year Tribulation?

Robert Breaker himself says the Tribulation is faith + works. Robert Breaker teaches Dispensational Salvation.

"You really think if you miss the rapture that it'll be easy to say, 'No, I'd rather die,' when you're starving to death and you can't buy or sell? But those who refuse the mark and are beheaded or killed for saying no to the Antichrist in the tribulation, well those—will be those who go up to heaven when they die." - Robert Breaker, The 7 Fold Mark of the Beast #markofthebeast #antichrist #lastdays #tribulation #mark #tattoo #666, starting at 45:30

If Robert Breaker wants to make Romans 10 for Tribulation saints, then he has to abandon Dispensational salvation, as saints in the Seven-Year Tribulation are not saved by faith + works. They're saved by faith, and Robert Breaker himself in the video says that the confession of Romans 10 isn't even a physical confession.

Robert Breaker himself thinks that Christians aren't saved by the two-step formula of Romans 10:9 (contrary to Church History's views), so what difference really is there between Christians saved now and Tribulation saints, if they're both saved by faith and nothing else? As Romans 10 does not have any works, the entirety of verses 1 to 17 is specifically designed by the Apostle Paul to rhetorically compare the works and righteousness of the Law of the Jews versus the easiness and simplicity of Jesus Christ.

2. What is the Point of paul writing Romans 10:8 to 21?

This is the first Pauline Epistle. This is the first thing a person reads after Acts.

The Apostle Paul has spent the entirety of Romans so far up to chapter 10 talking to the Romans and by proxy, us gentiles.

Romans 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Romans 1:8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.

Romans 1:9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;

Romans 1:10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.

Romans 1:11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;

Romans 1:12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.

Romans 1:13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

Romans 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

Romans 2:24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

Romans 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Romans 8:10 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.

What purpose does it serve the Romans to know what would happen to Jews in the seven year tribulation after they get raptured?

A verse by verse commentary with Robert Breaker's theology.

At points, I will be fully critical upon it instead of doing Reductio ad absurdum.

Verse 8: But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

So, the Apostle Paul is writing how Jews in the Tribulation are going to be saved, and despite the fact he is specfiically sent to the gentiles

Acts 22:21 “And he said unto me, Depart: for I will send thee far hence unto the Gentiles.”

The Apostle Paul for whatever reason is preaching the word of faith for Jews in the tribulation.

And this word of faith, which they preach is also completely different to anything that is preached in Revelation.

Revelation 14:6-7

“And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.”

So, really the word of faith THE APOSTLE TO THE GENTILES preach is actually to Jews in a future seven year tribulation.

Verse 9: That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

This is the climax of the Apostle Paul talking about the modern state of the Jews, and then the works and righteousness of the law, and finally the light yoke of Jesus Christ and his gift of salvation.

However, it's for Jews in the Seven Year Tribualtion, who explictly are going through a very hard time, and are actually bound to the law and commandments.

Robert Breaker himself says they're going through a hard time.

Paul is writing how easy it is for JEWS not the gentiles to be saved in the tribulation, despite them having to be beheaded and murdered. And having to starve to death, and in spite of Christ himself saying that you have to endure to the end, that is to say the tribulation is so hard; it is literally a matter of endurance.

Even if he said "if thou shalt confess" he actually means "if Jews in the seven year tribulation shalt confess"

Verse 10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

This is a byproduct of Confession, like John Calvin taught!

"With the mouth confession is made unto salvation. It may seem strange, that he ascribes no part of our salvation to faith, as he had before so often testified, that we are saved by faith alone. But we ought not on this account to conclude that confession is the cause of our salvation. His design was only to show how God completes our salvation, even when he makes faith, which he implants in our hearts, to show itself by confession: nay, his simple object was, to mark out true faith, as that from which this fruit proceeds, lest any one should otherwise lay claim to the empty name of faith alone: for it ought so to kindle the heart with zeal for God’s glory, as to force out its own flame. And surely, he who is justified has already obtained salvation: hence he no less believes with the heart unto salvation, than with the mouth makes a confession. You see that he has made this distinction, , that he refers the cause of justification to faith, , and that he then shows what is necessary to complete salvation; for no one can believe with the heart without confessing with the mouth: it is indeed a necessary consequence, but not that which assigns salvation to confession." - John Calvin, Commentary on Romans 10:10

Verse 11: For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

Paul may've written WHOSOEVER, but what he actually means is blood descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that is to say Jews.

Verse 12: For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

See next line.

Verse 13: For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

He just means that anyone who can call upon God can be delievered!

Now, if you look at Joel 2:32. You'll notice the Apostle Paul changed delievered to be saved.

Joel 2:32 “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.”

Someone could point out that deliverance and salvation are very different things. So, why would the Apostle Paul specifically change saved to delievered?

Paul is also writing this despite this somehow being specifically according to Robert Breaker designed for Jews in the seven year tribulation, only.

Verse 14: How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

The Apostle Paul following his advice that he later wrote “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” is now explaining the mechanics of being evangelized to in the seven year tribulation (thank you Don Nesbitt, reference to the Lord's bloodhound's video mechanics of salvation. @w46try7) to a bunch of Romans christians who will never experience the seven year tribulation.

One can only wonder what would bring THE APOSTLE TO THE GENTILES to explain the mechanics of Tribulation evangelism to a bunch of gentiles who again will never experience a day in it.

Verse 15: And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

You may notice that this is different to the gospel we find in revelation.

Despite Revelation not being written as of yet, the Apostle Paul is expecting newly converted Christians in Rome to somehow understand the seven year tribulation eschatology which hadn't been revealed or written about it.

Verse 16: But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

So, Robert Breaker is saying they Jews have not all obeyed the everlasting gospel in Revelations 14:6-7. Despite timewise Jews were already in the middle of the seven year tribulation when that verse takes place.

The problem is, when was the report not believed? Was it during the church age or during the tribulation? What is the report Paul gave to Jews in the Tribulation?

Verse 17:-20 But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world. But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

So, Paul is saying Jews were purposely provoked to Jealousy by the gentiles, which he later expounds upon on Romans 11.

Romans 11:11

“I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.”

This is inspite of the fact in the seven year tribulation, God ends the gentile age and returns to the Jews.

The Apostle Paul, if Robert Breaker is correct, is chronologically writing this about a time where the period of Gentiles are already over. So, why would he even talk about provoking Jews to jealousy through Gentiles?

But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

Why would a verse describing the gentile church age take place in a chapter that is about "how Jews are saved in the seven year tribulation" if Robert Breaker is right.

But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

Why would he be saying this if it is about God's return to Jews during the Tribulation?

Another thing, Robert Breaker says is this.

"Because you go to chapter 10, look what it says. He's talking about uh Israel and he says, blindness in part has happened to Israel in in verse uh 25 and things like that. So chapter 10 and chapter 11 of the book of Romans are dealing with Jews."

Blindness in part is Romans 11:25 not chapter 10.

He has no argument to proving they're connected, he only asserts they are.

Romans 10 purpose of mentioning the Jews is to contrast them with salvation, Romans 11 is to write upon their state, and God's eternal covenant with them.

And, even fully engaging with Romans 11.

Romans 11:7 “What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded”

Romans 11:11

“I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.”

All of those directly correlate to Romans 10 being for the Church age.

Let's assume for sake of argument, Robert Breaker is right.

Romans 10:9-17 establish how to be saved for tribulation saints, well delievered, and the evangelism process for Jews in the tribulation.

What's the point of Romans 10:18-21? The tribulation is when God has returned to Jews.

And, the beginning of Chapter 11 is illogical if you read it through that way.

Romans 10:18-21.

But I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, their sound went into all the earth, and their words unto the ends of the world.

But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you.

But Esaias is very bold, and saith, I was found of them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.

I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.

God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying,

Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life.

But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal.

Why would Paul even feel the need to deny the idea that God has cast away the Jews, even if the preceding chapter is all about the salvation of the Jews during the seven year tribulation?

3. The structure of Romans 10 is illogical if it is about Jews in the tribulation.

I have already said this, but I want to emphasize it again.

In verses 1 to 3, Paul is speaking about the current state of Jews and their attempts to establish their own righteousness.

In verses 4 to 8, he is directly comparing salvation through Christ, in contrast to the law and the Jews. And in the final verse, he makes the bridge verse, “But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;”

In verse 9, the tension between Christ and the law finally pays off, and he establishes how (if thou/you) we are saved through Christ.

In verse 10, he elaborates on verse 9 and makes a callback to verses 3-4, where he was talking about Jews establishing their own righteousness. He says that you have justification by believing, and final salvation is obtained with your mouth.

"So as to obtain final salvation. Confession here implies the whole of outward, as believing does the root of all inward, religion." - John Wesley, Romans 10:10

In verses 11-13, he establishes the universality of this salvation, that regardless of whether they are Jews or Gentiles (the Romans to whom he is writing), they can be saved this way.

And verse 13 ends with a reference to Joel 2:32, except he changes the word “delivered” to “be saved.”

And if there are any doubts that calling does not result in salvation, verse 14 re-establishes that calling does in fact lead to salvation.

Note, there are differences between a conduit for salvation (calling) and the cause (the Lord Jesus Christ, and his death, burial and resurrection) of salvation.

Verses 14 to 17 are describing the evangelism process.

Verses 18 to 21 contrast the Gentile acceptance of the gospel and the Jews not getting saved, which again is a payback to the start of the chapter, which talked about Jews and their rejection of Christ.

They then serve as a transition to the next chapter, which is specifically about Jewish salvation during the Tribulation.

(Note, I didn't talk about Romans 11:25-27 salvation for Jews who weren't killed in the seven-year tribulation for time reasons.)

Robert Breaker's idea that Romans 10 is for Jews because of verses 1 to 4, and because verse 13 is a reference to Joel 2:32 (which is also illogical, as that would mean Paul saying “the just shall live by his faith” is actually about Jews, since the original verse is from Habakkuk), is unsupported and illogical once fully analyzed.

"You go to just about any commentary on the book of Romans, and I've looked at many of them, and they say Romans chapter 10 and Romans chapter 11 is all to Jews. [laughter] Are we Jews? I thought, wow, that's weird. Because you go to chapter 10, look what it says. He's talking about uh Israel and he says, blindness in part has happened to Israel in in verse uh 25 and things like that. So chapter 10 and chapter 11 of the book of Romans are dealing with Jews. Why would you go there to try to teach a verse on salvation when there's all these other good verses in the Bible?" - Robert Breaker

Again, this is illogical if you analyze the chapter. Verses 18 to 21 are purposely set up to establish a transition to the next chapter, which is fully about the Jews.

If Romans 10 was about the Jews overall, there would be no point thematically to set up a transition.

Also, I do not know of a single commentator that has ever said Roman 10 is written specifically for the Jews outside of the fact, some verses on it are talking about the Jews as remember the Apostle Paul is specifically purposely contrasting the righteousness of the law and the Jews establishing their own righteousness versus Jesus Christ, and salvation through Jesus Christ.

And this is hypocritical anyway, because Robert Breaker's entire salvation theology is dependent on Romans 3:25, which is a synecdoche for the entire gospel. See "Robert Breaker disagrees with Martin Luther, Jan Hus, John Wesley, and John Chrysostom on the Thief on the Cross being applicable to modern-day Christians." I write more about Romans 3:25 there.

4. Delivered and saved are different things!

"For whosoever shall call upon the name name of the Lord shall be saved. Now, do you know where that comes from? Joel chapter 2. Let's flip back to Joel chapter 2. And that's interesting where he would get that from. Joel chapter 2. Joel chapter 2 and verse 32. And it shall come to pass that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be delivered. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance as the Lord hath said, and in the remnant whom the Lord shall call. What is the context of that verse? Oh, verse 30. And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into darkness and the moon into blood before the great and terrible day of the Lord. [panting] That's right in here. And right here, whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. So if this is the context and Romans 10 is about the Jews, why would you go there for salvation for us today? Why would you try to tell somebody all you have to do is just ask God to deliver you when the context is that sounds like you're asking God to deliver you from the tribulation? So, are you telling somebody don't get saved today, wait till the rapture is over and then you'll get saved over here. It's almost like they're preaching a tribulation gospel instead of the true gospel of salvation. That's scary. That's scary." - Robert Breaker

Joel 2:32 says “And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be DELIVERED: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.”

Romans 10:13 says “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be SAVED.”

It is a non sequitur anyway to assume that because the Apostle Paul takes a verse from the Old Testament and applies it to the New Testament, the context which the verse is in automatically applies to his usage of it.

Joel 2:32 is specifically speaking about the deliverance of Jews, the remnant.

Romans 10:12 establishes that any Gentile or Jew can call and be SAVED.

I'd like to thank Dr. Ruckman for this one.

The Apostle Paul changes Habakkuk 2:4, “Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the JUST shall LIVE BY HIS FAITH,” to “the Just shall live BY FAITH.”

Romans 1:17: “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

Habakkuk was written to Jews facing the invasion of Babylon. The just living by his faith meant living and enduring through the Babylonian invasion, enduring and living by his faith that God will deliver them.

Romans 1:17 removes “his faith” and makes it a universal application. The just shall live by faith.

If Romans 10:13 means Romans 10 is Jewish because it originally came from Joel 2, which is written to Jews, then Romans 1 is Jewish because Romans 1:17 originally came from Habakkuk, which was written to Jews.

And taking Robert Breaker's logic to its logical conclusion, the just shall live by faith in the tribulation. Which would contradict again faith + works salvation.

(I am aware he has never said this, however taking his logic to its logical conclusion).

5. The LXX objection.

Some say the Apostle Paul was quoting from the "LXX," and the "LXX" said "saved" instead of "delivered" (only the Masoretic Hebrew says "delivered").

Could Robert Breaker say that this debunks my idea that "delivered" and "saved" are different things, and so Romans 10:13 is Jewish?

There's one problem with him saying this: if he says this, he admits two things.

The King James Bible is wrong and mistranslated to say "delivered" instead of "saved" in Joel 2:32.

There existed an LXX before the New Testament, and it wasn't fabricated.

"...and what they today call the Septuagint, which they claim is 200 years before Jesus, is actually the fifth column of the, oh boy, there's so much to get into. They found in in here, when Origen was there, he had Hexapla, which is six different versions of the Bible. He had some in Hebrew, there was uh several others, Theodotion was one of them, it was his text, and then the fifth column was the text that they call the Septuagint.

But when you look at it, there's a great big 'O' at the bottom for Origen. That was his text! And he lived 200 years after Jesus. But scholars will lie to you today and say, 'No, the LXX is 200 years before Jesus, and Jesus quoted from the Greek.'

That doesn't make sense. No, the proof, it looks like it's 200 years after Jesus." - Robert Breaker, The Alexandrian Cult #Alexandriancult #alexandria #alexander #kjvonlyism #kjvonly #kjv #kjvbible

So, Robert Breaker can't make the argument without denying this.

And even if you ignore that, you are still ignoring the plain text. The King James Bible says delivered. THE LXX says saved. To import the meaning of Romans 10:13 back into the context of Joel, you're saying that the LXX is right to say saved instead of delivered.

For Paul speaks of soul salvation, and Joel means personal deliverance from trouble.

6. Whosoever shall call upon the Lord means whosoever.

Romans 10:12-13 “For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Robert Breaker hand-waves this section of Romans 10, and it's easy to understand why.

It's easy, albeit flawed, to say Romans 10:13 is for Jews because of Joel 2:32.

It's hard to explain why the Apostle Paul would say, before the Joel 2:32 quotation (which is specifically about the Jewish Remnant, which is not killed, calling upon God), in Breaker's theology, that Jews and Gentiles can call upon God for salvation. Don't forget Joel 2:32 says deliverance.

He could argue (and it wouldn't be the best argument) that Paul was saying that any Gentile could call upon God for deliverance, but Romans 10:13 says saved, and there's a difference between deliverance and salvation.

And even then, it doesn't make sense the more you think about it.

Why would Paul be writing this to a bunch of Christian Gentiles in Rome, that any Gentile who was left behind in the rapture 2,000 years later can just call upon God for salvation, I mean, deliverance?

What would be the point? What would that do to serve them?

And if you read the preceding verses, it is even more illogical.

What is the point of Romans 10:14, Paul saying that in the tribulation you're saved by calling and the steps that need to be done to call?

We know in the tribulation, what saves you is faith plus works. Calling is deliverance, not salvation, and Paul wrote saved, not delivered.

The verses which talk about salvation in the tribulation all point to works, and faith to do those works.

Romans 10:14 does not describe the salvation process of the tribulation.

7. No one in Church History taught this.

And we're seeing some people today that they piss on the flag, if you will, of the old-time way and they say, 'We don't want the old-time way.' And then they call what we're preaching the old-time path, the old path, the old-time way new and modern because what they have they claim is older. It's classic projection, classic transference." - Robert Breaker, Faith in the Blood is NOT a Modern Doctrine starting at 3:45

“and the ‘Antiochan Fathers’: Ignatius (35–107), Polycarp (69–155), Lucian (250–312), Diodorus (died 394), Chrysostom (345–407), and Theodoret (397–457).” – Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, The Christian’s Handbook of Manuscript Evidence, Chapter 6

“The Syrian group (Antiochan Fathers) is plainly a group of Bible-believing, Bible-preaching people who were first called “Christians” at Antioch and were the first to send out missionaries with the gospel (Acts 13:1–5). Any “neutral approach” which refuses to give precedence to THIS type of text (in order to appear scholarly) must ignore the facts of church history while searching for the “original manuscripts.”“ – Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, The Christian’s Handbook of Manuscript Evidence, Chapter 6

"(If you ever have to toss a coin between Chrysostom and Origen, save yourself the trouble; Chrysostom was a soulwinning, Bible-preaching missionary. Origen was a Platonic Arian who devoted his life to destroying the Textus Receptus.)" - Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, Colossians Commentary (The Bible Believer's Commentary Series), Chapter 4

"For there is no need to say, he means, that one must go up to heaven, or cross a great sea, and then receive the commandments, but things so great and grand hath God made of easy access to us. And what meaneth the phrase, 'The Word is nigh thee?' That is, It is easy. For in thy mind and in thy tongue is thy salvation. There is no long journey to go, no seas to sail over, no mountains to pass, to get saved. But if you be not minded to cross so much as the threshold, you may even while you SIT AT HOME BE SAVED. For 'in thy mouth and in thy heart' is the source of salvation." - John Chrysostom, Romans 10:9, Homily 18 on Romans, 4th century.

"Ver. 28. He will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness, he says, because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth. Isaiah 10:23

What he means then is somewhat of this sort. There is no need of fetching a circuit, and of trouble, and the vexation of the works of the Law, for the salvation is by a very short way. For such is faith, it holds salvation in a few short words. For if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved. Romans 10:9 Now you see what this, the Lord shall make a short word upon earth, is. And what is indeed wonderful is, that this short word carries with it not salvation only, but also righteousness. - John Chrysostom, Homily 16 on Romans, 4th century.

"For there is need of both: of true and firm faith, and of confession made with boldness, so that the heart may be adorned with the undoubted character of the faith, and the tongue may shine brightly as it fearlessly proclaims the truth." - Theodoret of Cyrus, Romans 10:9-10, 4th century.

"He called the salvation of men the wealth of God. For he knows the Master’s loving-kindness. Fittingly he adapted the testimonies to the heart and to the tongue: to the heart, “Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed”; to the tongue, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Then he teaches that the Jews have been deprived of salvation of their own will, because they did not wish to receive the preaching that was offered to them. But he does not bring the reproof in an obvious way; instead he manages the argument differently." - Theodoret of Cyrus, Romans 10:12-13, 4th century.

"It is necessary, he says, first to believe and then to call upon him. But it is impossible for one who has not enjoyed teaching to believe; and it is not possible to obtain this if there are no preachers; and these in turn are made by ordination. Having set these things thus as an apology for the Jews, through them he increases the accusation against them; and he placed last first, that of the sending of the preachers, showing that these things were prophesied from above. For it was sequential to show this before the others. For first the preachers must be ordained, then preach, then hear the preachings. Therefore he brings the prophecy of Isaiah, and says: “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, of them that preach the good things.” For the Lord commanded the apostles entering a house to say: “Peace be to this house.” For they announced the divine reconciliations, and evangelized the enjoyment of the good things. He calls their feet beautiful, as running the good course, as washed by the Master’s hands." - Theodoret of Cyrus, Romans 10:14-15, 4th century.

"Beloved, you have heretofore heard much about faith. Today you hear also of the witness of faith and of the cross that follows. Paul says to the Romans, “With the heart man believeth unto righteousness.” Romans 10:10. If one be pious, he must begin in his heart and believe. That serves only unto godliness; it is not enough for salvation. Therefore, one must also do what the Christian life requires, and continually abide in that life.

Hence, Paul adds: “If thou shalt confess with thy mouth Jesus as Lord, thou shalt be saved,” It is these two things that constitute our salvation, faith and the confession of faith. Faith rescues from sin, hell, Satan, death and all misfortunes. Now, when we have this we have enough. For God permits us to live here so that we may reach out a hand to our neighbor and help him. This is how God desires to have his name praised and his kingdom increased. Therefore, we must praise his name, confess our faith and win others to do the same, so that God’s kingdom may be increased and his name praised." - Martin Luther, SUNDAY AFTER CHRIST’S ASCENSION, 1522.

"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

For with the heart — Not the understanding only.

Man believeth to righteousness — So as to obtain justification.

And with the mouth confession is made — So as to obtain final salvation. Confession here implies the whole of outward, as believing does the root of all inward, religion." - John Wesley, Romans 10:10

"On these words, as all know, have been built the tremendous pretensions of the papacy in respect of sins. This is not the place in which to expose those pretensions. Surely, the words mean something, and that meaning must be inexpressibly solemn. Is it not this: that Christ has put into our hands, administratively, the only possible means by which men may receive the remission of their sins--the Gospel? "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?" - C.I. Scofield, The Resurrection

"Should this meet the eye of an unbeliever, he is affectionately exhorted to accept the true sentence of that holy and just law which he has violated: "For there is no difference: for all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:22-23). In Christ such will find a perfect and eternal salvation, as it is written: "If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" (Romans 10:9); for Christ is "the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth" (Romans 10:4)." - C.I Scofield, Law and Grace

“And here it comes: the simplest, clearest presentation of salvation found anywhere in either Testament. Two conditions: If. ‘If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,’ number two, ‘And shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.’ No ifs, ands, buts about it. And notice the heart is not changed. The heart believes on Christ in its regular condition. There is no overpowering of the sinner by the irresistible grace of God, which transforms him against his will into a new creature so he can receive Christ, and all that Calvinistic baloney. It’s saying that an unsaved man in his natural condition, and he’s told, if you believe something in your heart and confess it with your mouth, God’ll give you the new birth, God’ll save you and impute to you righteousness and justify you. Verse 10: For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness...’ Works are not a point at issue. ‘...and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.’ You see how insane some men get when they’re trying to prove a lie? ‘This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.’ That’s God’s work, not yours. You see that business? You don’t classify that with getting baptized and holding out to the end and doing all this junk. Belief is a matter of the heart. Now it’s a work only in the sense that that’s what God wants you to do, in that sense. It’s the work of God. But it’s not like works. Good night, man! All right, out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Out of the heart are the issues of life. Out of the heart of man proceeds all these things, Jesus says, and lists 13 evils. Then if you believe something in your heart, it should bear fruit in your mouth. Your heart should confess what your mouth-your mouth should confess what your heart believes. Notice the belief is in the heart, not in the head. And this reinforces the truth of Romans chapter 6, verse 17, that said you have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine delivered unto you. It’s not enough to repent, confess, believe, and be baptized. That’s just one of the different ways you go to hell. There’s all kinds of ways. It’s a matter of something in the heart by faith. Notice the obedience is by faith. 16: ‘They have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?’ In plain words, to obey the gospel is to believe the gospel, and you believe from the heart. And we made comment on this earlier when we talked about believing in vain, and you might review those remarks we made, and we made them in connection with Romans chapter 6, verse 17. All right, believe, confess, that’s the long and short of it. ‘With the heart man believeth unto righteousness.’ You can talk all day about a man believing an elevator will take him up, but he needs to get into it. You speak of a man having nerve, or having guts, or having backbone, so you understand perfectly what God means when he says believe in your heart. A man told a friend of mine, he was a skeptic, this man, he told a friend of mine, he said, ‘Your heart’s just an organ. It can’t believe.’ And my friend said, ‘Well, it may be an organ, but every time it hears the name of Jesus, it plays Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me.’ You understand what God means when he says heart. Don’t put on airs. ‘For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." - Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, Romans 10:9, 1969-1974

"Saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.” This is the source of the so-called “sinner’s prayer.” Since it is an Old Testament prayer before the Crucifixion, Christians add: “and save me for Jesus’ sake.” This brings up the question of whether it is necessary to pray to be saved. There is a movement among Bible-believing Christians today that says if you pray to receive Christ, that is a work, and you aren’t saved by works (Eph. 2:8–9; Tit. 3:5). The logical conclusion to such an argument is that if you prayed to get saved, that you are lost and need to be saved (again!). It is the Baptist version of the Brownsville Revival retreaders. It’s propagated by pastors who aren’t seeing many people saved in their churches, so they turn on their congregations and try to reconvert them. In one of these churches over in Milton, the associate pastor (who was the son of the pastor) professed to have gotten saved seven times. That was six times past the first time when he prayed to be saved. And you are going to trust a man with no more assurance or stability than that to lead you to Christ? Now is prayer necessary for salvation? [do not take this out of context, Dr. Peter S. Ruckman later says that the mouth is required for salvation] No. You can say a prayer and be no more saved than the Pharisee was when he prayed. The touchstone of the Gospel is not Acts 16:31 or Romans 10:13. It is John 1:12. “But as many as RECEIVED HIM, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.” Did you know you can believe on Jesus Christ and still die lost and go to Hell? Simon the sorcerer did; look up Acts 8:13 and READ IT! You can even call on the name of the Lord and be lost. Those exorcists in Acts 19:13–15 did. But you can’t receive Jesus Christ and the free gift of God’s righteousness through Jesus Christ (Rom. 5:15–18) and not be saved. You can believe without receiving, but you can’t receive without believing. The question is not can you be saved by praying, because the Scriptures say you can: “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Rom. 10:13). That calling involves the MOUTH (Rom. 10:9–10). You are confessing Jesus Christ with your MOUTH and believing on Him with your heart. The prayer is expressing the faith of the sinner in Jesus Christ to save him. So the real question is what are you doing when you say the sinner’s prayer? If you are repeating it as a ritual (like they do in Russia and the Ukraine due to the influence of the Russian Orthodox Church), that’s not salvation. If you are relying on the prayer itself to save you, that’s not salvation. But if the sinner prays to receive Christ and express his faith in what Jesus Christ did for him, that will do it. Here’s a sinner who comes to Jesus Christ in sincerity and faith, and prays, “Dear God, I know I’m a sinner, and if you don’t do something for me, I’m headed for Hell. I’ve been told that your Son the Lord Jesus Christ can save me, so I’m going to trust Him right now. I believe He died on the cross to take away my sins and rose again to take me to Heaven. Right now I receive Him the best way I know how. Please save me, Lord Jesus, and help me to know I’m saved.” Do you think the Lord is going to tell that sinner, “No, I can’t save you because you just prayed and prayer is a work”? Do you really think the Lord is going to turn down a sinner who comes to Him like that after He said, “him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out” (John 6:37)? From a practical standpoint, it is good for a sinner to pray when he gets saved because it can reinforce the believer’s assurance. The prayer gives him a tangible time to which he can point and say, “That’s the time and place when I trusted Jesus Christ as my Saviour.”" - Dr. Peter S. Ruckman, Gospel of Luke Commentary (The Bible Believer's Commentary Series), Chapter 18, 2013.

Not a single person in Church History taught this. Maybe Robert Breaker can find someone from the 20th century, but that's a modern heresy.

[Conclusion]

This doctrine is illogical, and falls apart upon further analyzing.

Taken to its logical conclusion, it is incoherent and the entire structure of Romans 10 falls apart assuming it is correct and Romans 10 is for the Jews.

And using the interpretive rules used by Robert Breaker to justify Romans 10 being for Jews, you give Romans 1 for the Jews as it also quotes an old Testament verse which is written to Jews.

All of Church History has not given Romans 10 to the Jews.

He has no historical backing for this doctrine.

Please follow the old paths, and follow them to believe Romans 10 is applicable for Jews and Gentiles to be saved.

“For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”

Call upon him as Moses called upon Him, yea, cried, interceding for those who had driven him into banishment." - John Chrysostom, Homily 10 on the Acts of the Apostles

That is from the 4th century.
