Knowing Gods will in marriage

Knowing Gods will in marriage

Memorise: “And I will bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not forsake them” (Is 42:16)

Read: Isaiah 42:16-2

One question that a single believer who has agreed to let God choose his or her marriage partner would ask is, How do you recognize God’s choice in marriage? How do you know the will of God concerning marriage? If we return to the first marriage that took place in the Garden of Eden, recorded in Genesis 2:18-25, you will observe that Adam had no difficulty recognizing his wife.

It was recognition at first sight! Even now, God still deals with His children in this way. You could recognize your Heaven-sent partner the first time you sight him/her. What negates the effectiveness of this is spiritual insensitivity. If your spirit man is highly developed to be in sensitivity to the things of the Spirit, it will be very easy. Psalm 25:9 says, “The meek will he guide in judgement and the meek will he teach his way”. If you are meek and totally submitted to His will and have no idol in your heart, God will easily guide you.

When God was to give Adam his wife, He did not have to struggle with Adam. He put him to sleep and allowed him to see what He was doing through his spiritual eyes.

One reason many fail to receive God’s will is because they have set up an idol in their hearts. Any one who shows up is compared with that idol. As long as you have an idol of the ideal partner in your heart, God may find it difficult leading you. If you truly want Him to guide you, eradicate all idols -the ideal height, complexion, figure, size, tribe, educational level, social status, etc.

Trust His decision like Adam. Adam went to sleep and allowed God to make the choice. The brother or sister you are seriously hoping or praying is Heaven’s choice may actually be the one hindering you from Heaven’s choice. Even if you were totally blind, if you can completely yield to His will, He promises to lead you in ways you have not known and bring you into your desired rest (Is 42:16). God’s will in marriage is for those who can trust His judgment In making decisions, you need information.

The quality of the decision made is dependent on the quality of information used. Every man possesses limited information but God is infinite. After He looks throughout the whole world and tells you a particular brother or sister is His best for you, be rest-assured you would never find an alternative as good. Go ahead and accept His choice.

God can lead you in very clear, sure and definite ways. Humbly submit to His leading.
