Learning to Let Go: 3 Keys to Letting Go and Trusting God
Learning to let go of things we want to control can be very difficult.
Grace Sanders shares how learning to let go and trusting God reveals His faithfulness in our lives.
Have you ever faced a sudden life detour that completely knocked the wind out of you?
A scary medical diagnosis that arrived without warning, frequent moves from state to state, or the beautiful, faith-filled journey of growing a family?
In those moments, our natural human instinct is to clutch the steering wheel tighter, stress over every unknown, and carry a weight on our shoulders that we were never created to bear.
We lie awake at night, calculating the what-ifs and trying to engineer outcomes completely outside our control.
But what if every unexpected turn, every trial, and every season of waiting isn’t proof of chaos, but evidence of a loving God preparing the way ahead?
What if the very things that cause us the deepest anxiety are actually the tools He is using to draw us closer to His heart and anchor us in His unfailing strength?
Let Go and Don’t Worry About It
For decades in our home, five simple words anchored our family: “Let Go and Don’t Worry About It.”
This was never meant to be a hollow cliché or a suggestion to ignore life’s very real difficulties.
Instead, learning to let go and not worry was our family’s sacred declaration of trust.
It served as a constant, daily reminder that:
● God Holds the Master Plan:
Nothing catches the Creator of the universe off guard. Long before we step into a trial, He has already gone before us to prepare the way.
● His Presence is Guaranteed:
Christ does not promise us a life free of hardship, but He guarantees His absolute, unwavering presence through every valley.
As Scripture reminds us in Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV), “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
● Surrender Brings Real Peace:
True peace isn’t found in having all the answers—it is found in trusting the One who does.

Stories of God’s Faithfulness
My memoir, ‘Let Go and Don’t Worry About It,’ isn’t a story about what I have accomplished.
Rather, my memoir is a testament to how God uniquely prepared my husband and me to live for Him, trusting His divine provision through every chapter of life.
The book compiles stories of His hand at work, including three miraculous angel stories that serve as awe-inspiring reminders of His tangible protection and divine care.
3 Stories of God’s Faithfulness
1. Facing Major Health Diagnoses with Unshakable Hope
When serious health battles arise, fear is often the very first voice we hear.
The uncertainty of medical reports can feel suffocating.
Yet, time and time again, I witnessed how surrendering our fears to Christ allowed His peace—which truly surpasses all understanding—to anchor our hearts through medical crises.
In those sterile waiting rooms, we learned firsthand that even when doctors shake their heads, the Great Physician is already seated on the throne, holding every single tomorrow in His nail-scarred hands.
2. International Adoption & the Joy of Surprise Babies
Expanding our family through international adoption was an absolute joy and a profound blessing, opening our hearts to the incredible gift of bringing a child home from across the globe.
Alongside that wonderful journey, God also blessed us with surprise biological babies of our own! Looking back, every child was handpicked by God, and His hand was meticulously crafting our family portrait in His perfect timing.
Navigating the unique blessings of both international adoption and unexpected additions taught us that God’s family tree is woven together with infinite love and intentionality.
3. State-to-State Moves & Unseen Protections
Our journey began in Alabama and took us through Illinois, Ohio, Virginia, and Kentucky.
Uprooting a life and moving from state to state brings a unique kind of transition, saying goodbye to familiar faces and stepping into entirely new environments.
Yet in every new community and neighborhood, God’s provision was already waiting for us before we even arrived.
From everyday blessings to extraordinary moments, including three remarkable angel stories, I saw firsthand how God dispatches His care precisely in our moments of greatest need.
He was faithful in Alabama, faithful in Illinois, faithful in Ohio, faithful in Virginia, faithful in Kentucky, and faithful every single step of the way as we learn to let go.
Letting Go To Serve Others
God never wastes a season of hardship, transition, or change.
Every state-to-state move, every medical challenge, and every step of family growth was part of God’s intentional training ground for my life.
Looking back, we realized that all that time, God had been teaching us, training us, and showing us His way as we were learning to let go.
When He provided a way for our early retirement, He called my husband and me to serve with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team, stepping into crisis zones to offer comfort, prayer, and support to people facing catastrophic loss.
In those devastating moments, everything God had taught us came full circle.
Without Him, we can do absolutely nothing, as Jesus reminds us in John 15:5 (NIV):
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
Discover the Abundant Life in Christ
In the book, I dive deeply into John 10:10 (KJV), which contains one of my absolute favorite verses:
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
So often in our modern culture, “abundant life” gets twisted into a message of worldly wealth, material comfort, or a life free of problems—a prosperity mindset that simply doesn’t align with the Gospel.
But the abundance Jesus promises is far richer and deeper:
● A Life of Divine Purpose:
Living each day surrendered to His will rather than chasing temporary peace or earthly success.
● A Life of Unshakable Peace:
Experiencing a deep, abiding contentment that remains steadfast through medical trials, moves, and life’s storms.
● A Life Lived for Him:
Finding our ultimate joy not in what we possess, but in serving Christ, relying on His strength, and sharing His unfailing love with a hurting world.
If you are currently walking through a season of doubt, waiting for an answer to prayer, or struggling to release control of your future, know that you are not alone.
My hope in releasing ‘Let Go and Don’t Worry About It‘ is to offer a gentle, story-filled reminder that God is actively working behind the scenes of your life right now, even when the path ahead looks dark and confusing.

Learning to Let Go: 3 Key Takeaways
1. Release the Need to Control: You don’t have to figure out the next ten steps; you only need to trust the One who knows the end from the beginning and holds your hand through the dark.
2. Look for the Hand of Christ: Take time to reflect on your past—you’ll often spot God’s
fingerprints and miraculous provisions on the very moments you thought you were walking alone.
3. Pass the Peace Along: When you learn to rest in God’s promises and internalize His command not to be afraid, your life becomes a beacon of encouragement to everyone around you.
