Life

Recently a friend mentioned to me that as she has grown older she has come to realize more and more that the only thing important in life is Jesus. I'd say "amen" to that. In the spirit of that truth I am going to share with you a 40 day devotional dedicated to reflections on Jesus. It was originally designed to be readings leading up to Easter, the celebration of Lent that is part of traditional preparations for that special time of year. b\But the truth is, every day should be a day to reflect on the Lord no matter what time of the year it is.

        If I Had A Hammer...

This title is from an old popular song to which I know only a few words, but it came to mind this morning as I sat down to write this post.Over this spring and summer I've been reading a lot of material from David Roper. GRUMBLES OR GRATITUDE

Grumbling is so often easier than gratitude. Heavens knows there is a lot to complain about in life. Tyrants, taxes, and troubles, whether temporary or permament, dog our steps. The practice of exchanging grumbles with gratitude takes, well, practice. Psalm 136 was an exercise in practicing gratitude for Israel. The community would divide itself into a two parts. One side would proclaim the reason for the gratitude, something God had done to bless their lives, and the other side would respond wi

        Shades of God

Discover the BeautyTake a sometimes whimsical journey with me to explore the wonder of the God we worship. Shades of God is a collection of short stories and poems that I trust will cause the reader to reflect on the beauty of our God in creation, and how His beauty is mirrored in the blessing He brings to our lives wherever that life may find us.Shades of God is the culmination of a project that I began years ago. I was going to publish it by more traditional means, but have decided to offer it

        'Ware the Wolves

I received an astonishing message from an American FACEBOOK friend this week. He wanted me to know that he and his wife were in support of Canada against Trump and his unsavoury friends. Further conversation revealed that they were seriously considering moving to Mexico because of the situation in their own country, despite how much they love their homeland. They feared an economic crash and rising prices that would make it difficult to live on their pensions and savings. There is no doubt that t
