Lionsgate, Kingdom Story Company Announce 2024 Release of 'Unsung Hero'
Long before for KING & COUNTRY’s Joel and Luke Smallbone and their sister Rebecca St. James topped the contemporary Christian music charts, they were a part of a struggling family from Australia searching for a better tomorrow in the United States.
When their father, David Smallbone’s music company implodes, rather than wallowing in his self-pity, he moves his family across the world to the United States. His hope is that he and his family will find a better future. With suitcases packed to overflowing and an undeniable love for music, Smallbone, his wife Helen, and their seven children set out to not only rebuild their lives but find the American dream. What transpires is miraculous. Not only do they survive, slowly but surely they come to realize it is the best move they could have ever made as several of their children would go on to become two of the most successful acts in contemporary Christian music history.
No longer just a nice rags to riches story, Lionsgate and Kingdom Story Company have announced that the Smallbone family will be the subject of a new nationwide movie called Unsung Hero. Starring Joel Smallbone, Lucas Black, Candace Cameron Bure, Terry O’Quinn, and Hillary Scott, the film is set to release April 26, 2024.
Joel Smallbone will also co-direct Unsung Hero with Richard Ramsey, best known for his work directing the 2014 music-themed film, The Song.
Kingdom Story Company is best known for piloting such films as I Can Only Imagine, American Underdog, and most recently, Jesus Revolution (now available on Netflix).
This is a developing story with much more content to come over the next several months.
