Living in Babylon or New Jerusalem (podcast)
Which culture represents your lifestyle?
A tale of two cities: Babylon wants to take over God’s world; Jerusalem invites God’s reign. Which culture are you living for?
It’s the plotline from Genesis to Revelation. God brings a New Jerusalem because Babylon destroyed the old one.
God’s reign is nothing like the city that deals death to defeat its enemies. Babylon’s fate is sealed when God overturns the execution of his Messiah. In his exile on Patmos, John saw the outcome: Babylon falls; New Jerusalem comes from God to fill his world.
“Come out of her, my people,” heaven calls (Revelation 18:4, echoing Jeremiah 51:45). While Babylon seduces nations with promises of power and wealth, God calls his people to leave that culture, to embody New Jerusalem culture under the leadership of the Lamb.
