Meditate On The Bible - Part 3 - Pursuing Intimacy With God

Meditate On The Bible – Part 3

To meditate on the Bible means deeply reflecting on and contemplating the teachings of the Bible. It goes beyond just reading Scripture. It involves focusing on specific passages, allowing them to sink into your heart and mind, and seeking to understand and apply them to your life.

This practice helps cultivate a closer relationship with God, strengthens faith, and brings wisdom, peace, and guidance. If you meditate on the Bible regularly, you can grow in spiritual maturity, align your will with God’s will, and experience transformation through the power of Scripture.

    Meditate On The Bible

In Part 1 and Part 2 of Meditate On The Bible we studied the importance of meditating on God’s Word and not just quickly reading it. And we studied how you need to meditate on God’s Word the Bible so you can get the most out of it and to discern what God is saying.

In Part 3 we will finish up learning how to meditate on the Bible and discern what God is saying to you and teaching you.

Close Your Eyes & Meditate On The Bible

Here are some verses that you can practice meditating on. Take some time to think on these verses, and try to discern what God is teaching you about Himself. Try to see how these verses can help you in your current circumstances, or with a problem that you are having.

Practice: read and meditate on the Bible God’s word: Psalm 111:2-4 “Great are the works of the LORD; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever. He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and compassionate.

Practice: read and meditate on Isaiah 40:12 “Who has measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, or with the breadth of his hand marked off the heavens? Who has held the dust of the earth in a basket, or weighed the mountains on the scales and the hills in a balance?”

isaiah 40 12, meditate on god's word the bible, god speaks through his word, god's word the bible, meditation, god speaks

    • meditate on this verse and try to picture what it looks like for God to hold all of the water of the earth in the hollow (palm) of His hand. Try to picture what it looks like when God was measuring the heavens or universe with the span or breadth of his hand (A span is the distance measured by a hand, from the tip of the thumb to the tip of the little finger).

Another Verse To Read And Meditate On

Practice: read and meditate on Isaiah 49:15-16 “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are ever before me.”

There are so many great verses and truths to read and meditate on in God’s word. You will be uplifted and strengthened once you get in the daily habit of reading and meditating on God’s word. It is well worth the time that it takes to meditate on God’s word.

When God Speaks Through His Word, Listen To Him And Obey

It is always well worth the time and effort to carefully read and examine God’s word. The effects on your life and the lives of those around you that God is trying to bring about will be very evident.

Psalm 1:2-3 “but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither- whatever they do prospers.”

Deuteronomy 5:32-33 “So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in obedience to all that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.”

Joshua 1:8 “Do not let this book of the law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.”

An Inspired Challenge for Wives This Father's Day - Today Can Be Different

Consider asking your husband how you can pray for him each day. (If the father of your children doesn’t live with you, for whatever reason, remember to put him on your prayer list too.) Your husband wants nothing more than to succeed, but he probably struggles with issues he’s afraid to admit, even to himself. He may feel insecure about being a dad, especially if he didn’t have the benefit of a good role model. Or maybe he feels more like an understudy because he’s “only” a stepdad.
