Ministry of Enlightenment for Revelation
The foundation of the church is Christ (1 Cor. 3:11). Since the mystery of Christ has been revealed to the apostles (Eph. 3:5-6), the revelation they received is considered the foundation upon which the church is built. This corresponds to the rock in Matthew 16:18, which is not only Christ but also the revelation concerning Christ, upon which Christ will build His church. Therefore, the foundation of the apostles and prophets is not the apostles and prophets themselves but the revelation they received for the building up of the church.*
The first part of Ephesians 3 is about revelation to the apostles. Then in verse 7 Paul says, “I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God.” This grace was given “to announce…the unsearchable riches of Christ as the gospel” (v. 8). The goal of the ministry’s announcing is verse 9, “to enlighten all that they may see what the economy of the mystery is, which throughout the ages has been hidden in God.”
God wants to enlighten all His people that each one may receive revelation about His purpose to fill us with His life and to build us together for New Jerusalem. May we each open to Him and pray Lord, grace me and enlighten me to see Your economy.
