Our Trip to the Bahamas

For our second year wedding anniversary, Logan and I headed to Nassau, Bahamas for a long weekend getaway. We didn’t have the boys yet, so it was a wonderful time to reconnect without worrying about leaving too much behind (I do distinctly remember missing our puppy, Jersey, though!)

Nassau, to us, was just OK. Since we live in Florida, we can thankfully access the beach really easily. We are big foodies and the meals in Nassau were just ok. However, our Bahamian getaway became something super memorable when we headed to nearby island of the Exumas on Powerboat Adventures.
Exuma, a district of the Bahamas, consists of over 365 islands called cays. Desperate to find clear and greenish-blue water, we booked a Powerboat Adventures tour leaving from Nassau.

This high speed powerboat whisks tourists away to snorkel reefs, feed wild stingrays and sharks and to get some of the very best views of the Bahamas there are!

Our first activity: feeding grapes to wild iguanas. These pesky little buggers anxiously awaited these Powerboat Adventure tours and were ready to feed! I crossed this activity off my list and headed back to soaking up some (clearly) much-needed sun.

Next up, feeding stingrays and sharks! It was incredibly cool how close up you got to these {beautiful} creatures that God created.

There were a couple of moments that I did let out a shrilling scream

Overall, the tour offered beautiful, indescribable views of beauty. Ship Channel Cay, their wonderful bar, served up freshly caught fish and other Bahamian delicacies. It was the best food we had on the island!

And the best part of being on a remote island with just a few other people that you’ve never met? God will throw in some surprises! Kelly, a teammate from my high school softball team in New Jersey, happened to be on the same boat tour, too!

We highly recommend the Powerboat Adventures tour from Nassau to the Exumas. It was the best part of our Nassau vacation by far! We ended our Bahamas trip feeling reconnected, refreshed and will forever cherish the Exuma ocean views.

    3 Trip Tips:

    • Get a Bahama Mama! Sit back, soak in the sun and enjoy a cocktail!
    • Look for wild pigs! Exuma is known for their swimming wild pigs, so be on the lookout for these critters on the island, too
    • Bring your kids! Although God didn’t have children in the plans for us yet, this trip would have been super enjoyable for kids, too

        Six Months Living Abroad

It’s hard to believe that it has been six months since we moved to Madrid, Spain! I have less “pinch me” moments now and honestly, it’s beginning to just feel like our norm. I had an emotional moment this past week, though, as I met with other expat moms at a local Tres Cantos park […]
