Richly Supplied to Become the Bride
In Matthew 9:15 the Lord Jesus presents Himself as the Bridegroom. His bride is composed of all those who have been healed by Him as the Physician (9:12).
Thank the Lord that our Husband is a healing Doctor, who heals our entire being by imparting Himself into our entire tripartite being [1 Thes. 5:23, “your spirit and soul and body”]. In our spirit, He regenerates us (John 3:6); in our soul, He transforms us (Rom. 12:2); and in our body He glorifies us (Phil. 3:21). This makes us His duplication, His corporate Shulammite. John the Baptist declared concerning Christ, “He who has the bride is the bridegroom…He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:29-30). According to these verses, the bride is the increase of Christ.*
We become the increase of Christ by receiving and absorbing the rich supply from Him. Colossians 2:19, “holding the Head, out from whom all the Body, being richly supplied and knit together by means of the joints and sinews, grows with the growth of God.”
We hold Him by loving Him, taking prayerful time in His word, and responding positively to His inner voice, His anointing. Thus we are “richly supplied” and the Body grows with “the growth/increase of God” in us. This is our preparation for New Jerusalem to be the mature wife of Christ as His increase.
