“And
she caught him by his garment, saying, Lie with me: and he left his
garment in her hand, and fled,
and got him out.” Genesis 39:12

“Flee
fornication.” 1Corinthians 6:18

“Flee
also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace,
with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.” 2Timothy 2:22

Have
you ever thought about why Joseph ran? Men are generally a lot
stronger than women, so it's not like she could have forced him. Was
he afraid of her?

Joseph
was putting a Biblical principle into practice. The Bible teaches us
to “Flee fornication.”

The
word “flee” means to run away from a place or situation of
danger.

God
teaches us to flee and not fight! Isn't that a cowardly thing? No!
It's a wise thing! You're not a coward if you run from a dangerous
animal. You would be a fool to try and fight it with your bare hands.

Proverbs
14:16 says “A wise man
feareth, and departeth from evil: but the fool rageth, and is
confident.”

Even though Joseph was a godly man, he was capable of
sinning in this way. We are all capable of the worst sin–no one is
'strong enough.' That's why we need to run from sin and temptation.
We can't trust ourselves.
