WHEN GOD OPENS ENEMY’S EYES

Memorise: ” But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife” (Genesis 20:3 )

Read: 2 Kings 6:20-23

Earlier, when the Syrian army came to arrest Elisha, he asked God to strike them with blindness. And they all became blind. In today’s reading, however, we see Elisha asking that the eyes of the Syrian army be opened. If I were God, I would have asked Elisha to make up his mind on whether he wanted the enemies to be blind or not. Yet, God granted Elisha’s request each time.

In the first request, he prayed but in the second, he issued a decree. Similarly, Elisha asked God to open the eyes of his servant; but now the eyes of his enemies. Is there any difference? When the first request was made, it was for his servant to see God’s supremacy over their enemies.

In Psalm 119:18 David asked God to open his eyes to see the wondrous things in God’s Word. When God opens the eyes of His servants and friends, it is to enable them see the wonders of God. On the other hand, when the second request was made, it was for the enemies to envisage the danger they were in.

“He suffered no man to do them wrong: Yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm” (Psalm 105:14-15).

The enemies were blindfolded, hence they could not appreciate the danger they were facing. In the same vein, witches and wizards are oblivious of the above scripture. Those trying to kill you are making such attempt because they do not know God has forbidden them from touching you. When God opens their eyes, they will realize how dangerous it is to touch you- God’s anointed, and become a prey in God’s hands (Hebrews 10:31).

That realization will send fear down their spine, and make them to beat a retreat. If your enemies are aware they will be roasted by the wall of fire surrounding you, they will quietly leave you alone. Today, the Lord will open the eyes of all those who are troubling, oppressing and tormenting you to see the danger they face, and they will leave you in Jesus’ Name.

In Genesis 20:1-18, after king Abimelech had taken Abraham’s wife, at night, God came in a dream and opened the eyes of Abimelech to see that both he and his entire family were facing death. In fear, he immediately restituted.

Everyone who has stollen something precious or is planning to steal from you, the Lord will open their eyes to see the dangerous consequences of their actions, and they will change their evil plan against you in Jesus’ Name.

Father, today, open the eyes of my enemies to see that it is you they are fighting against, so that they can leave me alone.
