Something ALL loving parents need to know! — SAMUELDEUTH.COM

Do you love your kid(s)? I’m hoping that was an easy answer! ha! I didn’t say are they always lovable, but do you always love them? And I’m sure your answer is yes, as it should be.

But, there’s a measurement for true parental love that the Bible has, that most people don’t know about. Read this powerful verse from Proverbs.

“If you withhold correction and punishment from your children, you demonstrate a lack of true love. So prove your love and be prompt to punish them.” Proverbs‬ ‭13:24‬ ‭TPT‬‬

In the below video, I fully talk through this verse and share about how to apply this Bible verse and a few others when it comes to parenting and discipline. But, here’s a few quick highlights from the verse and video.

    • If you love your children, you must provide consistent discipline.

    • Discipline guides your child towards success in life.

    • While no parents enjoys spanking or disciplining their child, it’s the guardrails that will keep them going in the way they need to go.

    • Discipline your child for their benefit not because of personal annoyance.

    • Focus discipline on core character issues like lying, attitudes and disobedience.

What does it mean to have childlike faith?

What do you think of when you hear the word “childlike?”For many of us, “childlike” might bring to mind something immature, foolish, or naive. Yet when Jesus talked about childlike faith, he wasn’t asking us to be any of these things. He was inviting us into something pure, trusting, and real. This week, I got to help lead worship at a kids' camp. Watching the kids worship was such a beautiful reminder of what childlike faith truly looks like. These kids worshiped, prayed, and talked about God.
