Thankful Thursday
Happy Thursday morning! It’s been a minute. I wanted to check in and see how you were doing and offer an update on me. It is truly a thankful thursday!
The newest tea on me is that after months of searching, I found just the right full time job! There has been lots of frustration and discouragement along the way. And I spent time truly grieving a couple of jobs I really wanted. But now I know that God was saving me for this! The Monday after Thanksgiving I will begin work as a Sales Admin for Golden State Communications! It is nothing I was looking for and nothing I’ve ever done before. But I am truly excited for this next adventure and look forward to learning new things!
I would love your prayers for this 50 year old brain ,which hasn’t worked full time in 23 years, to learn quickly and retain easily. And also that things would go smoothly for the help I have lined up for my daughter Shelby in the afternoons (there has been some drama and misunderstandings but I think it’s all worked out now)! The fantastic thing is that I will only need help in the PM as my new boss is adjusting my start time each day so I can drive Shelby to dayhab. This eliminates the stress of having to coordinate help on both sides of the day, which simplifies everything! Yay!
In addition to the new J.O.B, I am taking charge of my health in a whole new way. (I told you I was probably having a mid-life crisis). But I would love your prayers in this area as well. I’m already contemplating my word for the year for 2024 and right now discipline is floating to the top. Possibly more on that later.
The rest of the family is doing well. Chuck remains healthy and strong and Allie is living her very best life as a freshman at Baylor University. It is so fun to watch her thrive and soar! Sic’Em! Chuck and I are really focusing on making sure Shelby has exercise or meaningful movement most days of the week, motivated by the desire to see her keep getting stronger and better after her spinal surgery back in January.
I want to reiterate that I really would love an update from you! Leave a comment below or click on CONTACT in the top banner of this page to send me a private message. And let me know how I can pray for you as well. It would be an honor.
And now I want to leave you with a quote from noted civil rights leader and author W.E.B. Du Bois. And then a scripture – saving the best for last.
“Give us thankful hearts…in this the season of Thy Thanksgiving. May we be thankful for health and strength, for sun and rain and peace. Let us seize the day and the opportunity and strive for that greatness of spirit that measures life not by its disappointments but by its possibilities, and let us ever remember that true gratitude and appreciation shows itself neither in independence nor satisfaction, but passes the gift joyfully on in larger and better form.”
“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7 NIV
