'The Chosen's' Paras Patel, Noah James on Most Intense and Challenging Season Yet

LOS ANGELES -- To read the description for the hit video series, The Chosen, seems almost like it came from an academic publication:

The Chosen is a historical drama based on the life of Jesus and those who knew Him. Set against the backdrop of Jewish oppression in First Century Palestine, the series shares an authentic look at Jesus’ revolutionary life and teachings.

This all sounds nice but the program that is entering its fourth season is so much more than that.  While the program has certainly proven to be beautiful, enriching, and life-changing during its first three seasons, the eight new episodes set to debut in theaters nationwide on February 1st, promises to be more intense, mature, and challenging than ever before.

For actors Paras Patel and Noah James, who have both been with The Chosen series since the beginning, Season 4 has not only stretched them as actors, but more importantly has driven them deeper into the life-affirming message of Jesus Christ. Patel and James, who play disciples Matthew and Andrew respectively, believe that this could be and will be the most rewarding theatrical work of their acting careers.

I recently sat down with Patel and James at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills to discuss what viewers can expect from their characters in Season 4, why they see the new episodes as a pivotal turning point in the series, and how the time-tested teachings of Jesus are more vital today than at any other point in history.

In a phased release, The Chosen will debut episodes 1-3 in movie theaters nationwide on February 1st, to be followed by episodes 4-6 on February 15th, and episodes 7-8 to complete the month-long cinematic run on February 29th. All episodes will move to various streaming platforms in early March.

This approach will be the first time ever that a full season of a television streaming series will make its debut in movie theaters rather than a normal release on the Internet.
