The Lord Will Provide – kenbarnes.us

And Abraham named that place (YHWH-Jireh) The Lord Will Provide, as it is said to this day, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” (Genesis 22:14)

When the circumstances are at their worst, financial or otherwise, it is the Lord who will provide.

A few years back, I had a blood clot; a deep vein thrombosis lodged in the artery between my heart and lung.  It was the type that many people do not survive. The recovery would take some time.  At the same time, we had a storm that damaged our roof and needed repair.  Added to this, the compressor on our air conditioning unit failed and needed replacing.

When I did the math on my medical bills and repairs, it would total ten thousand dollars or more, and I was off work without pay.  I felt like, how in the world can I get through these circumstances?

One day as I doubted how God could provide for all of this, I arrived at a gas station to fuel my car.

I noticed a lady on the other side of the pumps standing there with a pump handle in her hand, looking a little puzzled. I asked her if she needed help, she said to me, “do you want some free gas?”

She explained that she had fuel points for free gas and her tank was full, and I could have the rest.

I thought it might be a gallon or two; I pumped a full tank of gas into my car.  As I look back on it now, I believe God was trying to say to me, Ken, I know you are a little nervous about your bills, but if I can provide gas for you free of charge, will I not help you pay your bills?

Sometime later, I got a letter from the IRS.  A letter from the IRS is usually not good news.  This letter had a check to me for over five thousand dollars. This check was not a refund; that year, I owed the government.  I called them to verify, and they said that it was my money.  I made sure I got their names

Within six months, God had helped me pay all my bills

Are you overwhelmed by financial burdens? Your heavenly Father has it all under control?

        Sausage, Pears, and Apples

There was a time, long, long ago, when my brother and I would eagerly await the arrival of Fall and every train that rolled into our northern Ontario hometown. We knew that on one of those trains there would be wonderful gifts with our names on them. No socks, shirts or pajamas—at least not on the train. Fall meant that a box of apples and another one of pears from the farm of one of our uncles would surely be arriving any day. Fresh fruit was hard to get and expensive up north back then. And y
