Jeremiah 44 verse 17
17 But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.
- Idolatry is the gravest sin before God
- Idolatry is simply worshipping other gods
- Idolatry is regarding manmade gods, woods, stones, natural …. Water, air as your god
- Idolatry is disobeying one of the ten commandment that says ‘’thus shall not have any other gods before me’’
- The sin of idolatry comes with a curse
- The sin of idolatry comes with a divine punishment
- God is merciless on idolators
- God can still forgive sexual adulterer thus am not asking you to commit adultery, but God finds it difficult to forgive spiritual adulterer. Spiritual adulterer is prostituting with other gods.
- In the Bible, the children of Israel worshipped an idol called the queen of heaven
- The queen of heaven simplifies idols, gods, paganism, and different kind of false worship
- God described worship of the queen of heaven as an abomination
- God destroyed the land of Israel including Jerusalem the holy city because of the sin of idolatry
- God became the enemies of His children because of their idolatrous practices
- May the Holy Spirit give you the grace to serve God alone in truth and in spirit all the days of your life in Jesus name.
