1. In verse 4, we see that Isaac specifically instructed Esau to prepare a dish made of wild meat for him. The dish was not supposed to be prepared by another person. But in verse 14, we see that Rebekkah decided to prepared the dish on behalf of Jacob, and in verse 19 Jacob lied that he had prepared the dish, whereas it was prepared by Rebekkah. It is arguably, that if Jacob had prepared the dish himself, it would not have been delicious.

2. In verse 19, Jacob lied that he was Esau, the first born of Isaac.

3. In the same verse 19, he lied again that he had successfully hunted down and cooked a wild animal for his father Isaac, whereas what he really cooked was Goat meat from the household flock..

4. In verse 20, Jacob lied that he was helped by God to quickly hunt and kill the bush meat, whereas he did not hunt at all.You will see that this lie is a direct lie against God. In a bid to cover his lies, Jacob lied against God. Liars will eventually commit worst evils, in order to cover up their previous lies.

5. In verse 23, we see that Jacob in connivance with his mother, (see verse 16) impersonated his brother Esau who was a hairy man, by covering his hand with the Goatskin.

6. In verse 24, Jacob was pointedly asked by Isaac, whether he was Esau or not, and for the second time, he lied that he was Esau.

7. In verse 27, we see that Jacob was able to deceive Isaac because he put on Esau’s clothing, so when Jacob caught the smell of Esau’s clothing he safely assumedthe person before him was Esau.
