Hosea 4 vs 2 & 6
2 By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.
- God lamented in Hosea vs 1 – 2 that the Israelites are committing many sins.
- These includes lying, not showing mercy, murder, stealing, lack of fear of God and adultery.
- God attributed the problems the Israelites were facing to their many sins.
- This is the background to the popular quotation that ‘’my people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge’’.
- Sin destroys, to avoid the wages of sin, you need to increase your knowledge on the commandments of God.
- Avoid sins, so that it will not destroy you, your marriage, family, business, destiny, household, etc.
