Transfiguration: A vision of Glory, our Future Full of Hope | HealthWealthVictory

Begin with the end in mind. In the Transfiguration of Jesus, God gives us a glimpse of our end, God’s vision of Glory, our future full of hope. That’s what He has in mind for you and me. Here’s how you can experience it daily.

2 Six days later, Jesus took with him Peter and James and John and led them up a high mountain on their own by themselves. There in their presence he was transfigured:

3 his clothes became brilliantly white, whiter than any earthly bleacher could make them.

4 Elijah appeared to them with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus.

5 Then Peter spoke to Jesus, ‘Rabbi,’ he said, ‘it is wonderful for us to be here; so let us make three shelters, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah.’

6 He did not know what to say; they were so frightened.

7 And a cloud came, covering them in shadow; and from the cloud there came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him.’

8 Then suddenly, when they looked round, they saw no one with them any more but only Jesus.

9 As they were coming down from the mountain he warned them to tell no one what they had seen, until after the Son of man had risen from the dead.

Mark 9:2-13

A glimpse of Glory

Today, God gives us a powerful vision of our future.

Have you ever envisioned how you will end up being “when you grow up?” Do you have a picture of your desired future?

Our lives will not end in death. No.  And no, it’s not all about being famous, or rich and wealthy, or having the life of your dreams.

We are meant for more than that.

We are groomed to be like Jesus, transformed in glory, beloved sons and daughters of the Living God.

All around us we observe a pregnant creation. The difficult times of pain throughout the world are simply birth pangs.

But it’s not only around us; it’s within us. The Spirit of God is arousing us within. We’re also feeling the birth pangs. These sterile and barren bodies of ours are yearning for full deliverance.

That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting.

We, of course, don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.

Romans 8:22‭-‬25 MSG

A Future Full of Hope

The Transfiguration of Jesus is the vision of our future, a future full of hope.

This is the power of vision. We have to get this ingrained in our minds and heart.

We are sons and daughters of the Living God, children of the King.

And He has wonderful plans for us.

I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.

Jeremiah 29:11 GNBDK

Transformed in glory

So how do we get to this desired future?

How do we live up to this vision of becoming a beloved child of God transformed in glory?

By listening to Jesus, the Beloved Son.

7 And a cloud came, covering them in shadow; and from the cloud there came a voice, ‘This is my Son, the Beloved. Listen to him.’

Mark 9

Seek Him daily. Get up to the “mountain” with Him alone every day.

Let Him reveal Himself to you in any way He wants.

Just be with Him.

How do I spend time with Jesus?

I do it first with Thankfulness meditation as soon as I wake up. I spend 5  mins just thanking God, breathing in and out.

Then I walk to mass. I usually just experience it with the Lord. Today, it was raining so I was just savoring the moment.

I passed a house with a beautiful yard for sale just a block away from home. I claim it from the Lord, or something like it for my future home so I can put in a swimming pool, and swim daily for exercise.

Just for fun. Who knows, the Lord might give it to me? 🙂

Then I read the daily mass readings again. And then I write my reflections in a digital journal (I use Google doc). Which, for the last 2 weeks have ended up as a daily blog post, as He has inspired me to do.

This sets me up to live the day with Jesus. Not just for the morning.

It’s true as they say:

When you win the morning, you win the day.

Abiding in Jesus

I love the song in Disney’s animated movie Encanto titled “We don’t talk about Bruno”. We always sing this song together, me and my nephews and nieces.

There’s a part there where Isabela sings:

He told me that the life of my dreams will be promised and someday be mine.

He told me that my power would grow like the grapes that thrive on the Vine.

I love that part. It really spoke to me. I change the first part and sing my own version:

He told me that the life of my dreams is promised and already mine.

Cause I believe it’s true. The life of my dreams God has promised to me is already mine and I live it each day. I claim it in faith.

I told my 7 yr old nephew that when he complained that I sang it wrong. He still didn’t like it.

The second verse reminds me to abide in Jesus, for without Him I can do nothing.

I am the vine, and you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me.

John 15:5 GNBDK

Now your turn

Do you want to experience fully the Transfiguration of Jesus? Do you want to live God’s vision of Glory for you daily?

Just be with Him. And listen to Him.

You may do it differently. You may end up just sleeping on your prayer time, like the apostles.

It doesn’t matter. What matters is you set aside time to be with the Lord Jesus and listen to Him.

Then you will see, you will learn what God’s plans are for you.

I alone know the plans I have for you, plans to bring you prosperity and not disaster, plans to bring about the future you hope for.

Jeremiah 29:11 GNBDK

A future of prosperity, a future full of hope.

You’ll love it and live it. God’s vision of Glory for you.

The life of your dreams God has promised is already yours. Just thrive on the Vine.

Dear Lord,

Thank You that the life of my dreams You’ve promised, Your vision of Glory for me is already mine. Thank You that my power (to live Your vision of Glory for me daily) would grow like the grapes that thrive on the Vine. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
