Turning the Crisis of Shame into Calm - Denise Pass

Shame RX: Jesus turns our crisis into a place of worship when we are still in His presence.

Psalm 37:7

“Be still in the presence of the LORD, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.”

Someone pointed out a flaw in you. *Gasp* Or perhaps a perceived, made up flaw. Either way, you have been maligned and haters have sought to shame you and defame you.

These treasured moments (sorry for the sarcasm, could not help myself), can put us into crisis mode as we begin to obsess and contemplate doing damage control.

Sure, it is not fun to have people talk behind our backs and spread “stuff” about us, but God has our back. And His principles do, too.

We will reap what we sow. “Shamers” will, too.

God is inviting us to be still in His presence and to let go of crisis mode. So what if someone does not like you and talks about you? We can stop defending ourselves or worrying about man’s opinion because we know we aren’t perfect and our confidence is in God’s righteousness, not our own.

And these haters don’t have the last word. And, news flash—they are not appointed to judge anyone and don’t have the right to shame anyone, either. In fact, the last time I checked, only God is in that place. While sin invites shame into our lives, our kind God invites us to a way of escape from shame’s condemnation.

Jesus turns our crisis into a place of worship when we are still in His presence and trust Him to cover all our shame.
