UNCHANGING GOD

In Matthew 26:36-46, the Lord Jesus Christ went into a garden called Gethsemane with His disciples. He separated Himself to seek God’s face on an issue. He prayed. The prayer He said that day was so remarkable because the salvation of mankind depended on it. He prayed until His physical strength gave way to supernatural strength. He agonized in prayer until His sweat became as thick as blood.

Until then He had a record of 100% answers to prayer requests but on this day, He repeated the same request three times yet God did not change His mind. From this, we learn that where God’s plan or purpose is involved, no amount of prayer can cause Him to negate them. If you are asking God to change His Word, you are wasting your time and effort. Rather, ask to know His will and align with it.

“For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed” (Malachi 3:6). Prayers do not change God. The above scripture tells us we are not consumed because of God’s immortality. James 1:17 says God cannot even change in the slightest degree while Hebrews 13:8 says He retains his essence in spite of fleeting moments, situations and circumstances.

Before, during and after your prayer, God remains God. He does not change. Your request does not add to or subtract from Him. Your prayer does not strip him of his dress. What He wore before creating the world is still what He is wearing. The fashion of earth fades away and continues to change but heavenly fashion never changes. God’s clothes are of the best designer – made by Himself, hence it does not need to be changed. He wears light. God is not carried away by the direction the multitudes are going.

God is eternally God. His seat is never vacant for anyone to contest for it. That might be one of Satan’s bones of contention but there is nothing anyone can do about it. God cannot be dethroned but is willing to share His throne with His human favorites, not angels. And this is for all eternity! For all who will share God’s throne, they will become unchangeable as God is.

Can you imagine yourself sharing God’s throne with Him? To do this you must be genuinely saved. You must overcome sin, Satan, the flesh and the world like Jesus did. You have to love and obey Him beyond everyone else. This year, God will not change His good plans towards you.

Jesus died for street urchins too. Pray and plan to present Christ to them and to take them off the streets.
