Understanding Why The Death Of A Christian Is A Blessing

The death of a Christian is a blessing in disguise. There is no need to be afraid or lose hope. Embracing the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ gives hope to every faithful believer. Think of the provision of eternal life and rejoice.

It’s hard and pointless trying to unravel the mysteries behind death through human intelligence. According to World Population Review in 2024, 166,859 deaths occur in a day around the world. Bear in mind that no single being living today can defy death. In the Bible, characters such as Methuselah lived close to a thousand years (969 years). He died a mortal death. But today, the death of a Christian is more glorious and understandable through Jesus Christ.

The Search For Immortality

Historically, some scientists, political leaders, and spiritualists tried to find an antidote to death but they never found it. Sadly, they died. But while death remains inevitable; what kind of death must the world be concerned about?

Someone like Qin Shi Huang who was the first-ever Emperor of China died after trying to be immortal by injecting himself with mercury. Again Charles-Édouard Brown-Séquard was a respected physiologist who also failed in his attempt to enjoy immortality.

Today, a couple of billionaires are aspiring to live forever. They are craving for immortality by pumping in a lot of money to achieve this unrealistic goal. Has anyone not told them death is inevitable?

All those who went extreme searching for immortality failed. Death is a beautiful thing that must be embraced by everyone who accepts Jesus as his Saviour.

I believe if the world gets to know the salvation plan of God through Jesus, death anxiety and its fears would be minimized. The death of a Christian is not a loss but a gain according to the Bible.

If you knew how God has beautifully prepared the New World for His obedient Children — you would wish you had already gone out of this crooked world. We are meant for a beautiful kingdom. (1 Peter 1:4)

Why think and worry about perishable goods and wealth here on earth? Don’t make a mistake by clinging strongly to any material wealth in this life.

Truth On Death And Afterlife

There have been many testimonies recorded about peoples’ death experience (coma) —seeing the new world God has prepared for those who are His.

CNN interviewed 3 different people with these kinds of experiences on their program “To Heaven And Back.” Such amazing stories about the reality of the afterlife must be taken seriously by every Christian.

In the year, 2020 I saw the front view of the New Jerusalem described in Revelation 21. It happened in a way that felt like an astral projection. While I was sitting and dozing off that night I saw heaven open with the front view of a big city made up of gold. It shines brightly…

I then felt my spirit leave me and all I was saying within myself was “God is going to show me heaven…” I experience an incredible speed of ascending into heaven like in a space shuttle…” I was so happy. It’s an experience I will never forget.

Today I want to let Christians know why dying in Jesus Christ is a blessing. Truly it hurts to lose a loved one. But life doesn’t end here on earth. The Bible has stated categorically that there is an afterlife.

Death in Christianity is a gift and so must be accepted with great hope of living with our Lord Jesus Christ someday. It’s called a “deep sleep.”

Believing in the resurrection of the dead (1 Corinthians 15:21) is very essential in Christianity. Jesus Christ — the first to rise from death has set an example of his authority of death. Someday, he will also raise us from death to inherit eternal life.

Living Cautiously As A Believer

If you want to enjoy eternal life as a believer, then you must hold onto the faith to the end. By saying this, I mean your entire existence and lifestyle on earth must be in accordance with the word of God.

From the day you were born to the day you will die, you will account for everything you did or said on judgment day. In view of this, the Bible reminds us to live wisely in this crooked world.

You will live long and enjoy many blessings here on earth if you adhere to the Lord’s instructions. God is trustworthy and all His promises are true.

On the other hand, if a man would live without God, He would die without Him and face eternal punishment.

The more you delight in carnal lives, the deeper you dig your grave and make it for your burial. Haven’t you read from the Bible that sin is a job that deserves payment? What kind of payment do sinners receive?

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is everlasting life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

Now I believe I have your attention to the reality of the afterlife. Many people die prematurely because they live without the fear of God. This kind of lifestyle makes the said person vulnerable to the crafty devices of the devil which leads to eternal damnation.

Satan is indeed roaring like a lion seeking whom he may devour. The moment you die without Christ Jesus, by rejecting his salvation plan —you automatically condemn yourself.

I’m not here to scare or judge you. This is a Biblical truth that must be taken seriously. Instead of us facing the penalty of death — Jesus Christ being God (John 1:1-3) took on flesh to come and die for us.

He has therefore redeemed us from the penalty of death. When we talk about death, Christians should understand that we have physical death and spiritual death.

We experience physical death here on Earth. But for the spiritual death, it is purposely for those unrepentant sinners. God will destroy them along with Satan and all his angels. The Bible has made all these pretty clear. However, we constantly have to remind ourselves that we are mere travelers on Earth.

Concerns On Life Span

We are challenged with diseases and sicknesses, aging, accidents, and several other things that take us to the grave. Our generation is facing early death and it’s getting worse.

How many years should a Christian live? Today humans barely live up to 100. The average is between 60 to 80. However, God has promised to give us a long life. So we keep praying and hoping we enjoy our days on earth fully to glorify the Lord.

King David said:

Bible verse about human lifespan

“The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.” —Psalm 90:10

Yes, we fly away quickly. Death is waiting for us all, but if you are a Christian, you must not be afraid of death or let the anxiety of a dead relative overtake you.

To Die As A Faithful Christian Is Good

A true born-again Christian must recognize the importance of death here on earth.

Why would you cry uncontrollably and hopelessly when you lose a loved one who is in the faith?

We must all be ready to depart —for this sinful earth is coming to an end. We must stay faithful to God by living in Christ Jesus. If you live and die in him, you will be raised from death and live with him in his kingdom.

“Now we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also we believe that God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep as Christians.” (1 Thessalonians 13 – 14)

Now the above verses have declared one of the benefits of death to the Christian. There is something more better and beautiful prepared for us.

Further reading in verse 16 says “The dead in Christ will rise first.” This is very encouraging for all Christians to embrace death as a gift. There is still life after that.

Jesus reminded us about the beautiful things in the afterlife by saying:

“In my father’s house, there are many mansions…” (John 14:2) Jesus Christ said this to everyone who believes in him. This promise is trustworthy.

Christians must therefore look up to the new life Christ Jesus has promised us. By believing in him, we ought to sacrifice our lives for him here on earth. We mustn’t die without taking Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.

Please, do not let the unbeliever or false doctrines derail you from the salvation plan of God. If you die today, make sure you die by knowing Jesus. If you die tomorrow, make sure you die in Jesus. Because in him dwelt life and all the treasures you seek.

A Christian’s death is a transition from this world to the kingdom of God. It is about staying faithful to the end. There is the crown of righteousness awaiting us in heaven.

In summation, death is a good thing for Christians. It is part of the journey to the afterlife. Apostle Paul wrote that when he was caught up in Paradise (2 Corinthians 12) he saw sacred things that were very awesome.

But he wouldn’t boast about them. Instead, he will boast about his weaknesses for the power and grace of God that abound in him.

We can also take one good example from Jesus Christ when he was on the cross. He told the thief who believed in him that, even though he will die — he will be with him in paradise (Luke 23:43). This is one of the greatest benefits of death to Christians or people who die in Jesus Christ.

Wouldn’t it be a great joy to see all your loved ones who have died in the Kingdom of God?

Pursue righteousness, be the light and salt in our crooked world and surely the Lord will make you enjoy eternal life through his abundant grace and mercy. Jesus conquered death for us on Calvary and so we are victorious through him. Amen!

In summation, a Christian’s death is a departure from this earth to the spiritual world. It is a homegoing and a deep sleep in Christ Jesus.

The natural death is simply a separation of the soul from the body. And spiritual death is eternal damnation which is the penalty of sin.

Experiencing Death In Jesus Is A Good Gift For Christians | Accept It

Many Christians feel extremely sad and hopeless when they lose a loved one. The Bible says death in Jesus is good. It is a gift for believers to accept. The benefits are far greater.
