What Are We Telling a Future Generation?

Bible

I am so grateful that I learned about God at a young age.  I’m especially thankful that God, who wants His creation to know HIm, provided a way for us to learn HIStory.  He inspired men to write it down for future generations and preserved it for our benefit.

I’m a realist, and I know that many have chosen to neglect The Word.  I also know that there are those that abuse it and use it for their own purposes–but that doesn’t excuse our responsibility to learn it, apply it, and teach it to our children and grandchildren.

Nothing warms my heart more than to hear my sweet grandchildren re-telling the Bible stories they’ve learned or singing praise songs at the top of their lungs.  My heart melts to hear my grandbabies pray for me when I’m sick or ask God to “help us all to make good choices.”  {oh.my.goodness! out.of.the.mouths.of.babes!}

God’s children are constantly faced with choices.  How can we–and our children–learn what designates  “a good choice”?  The Word.  The Truth. The promises of God and the instructions of God.

The faith of my children, and now my grandchildren often remind me that God’s love is a precious gift, and that we are the privileged recipients.  We don’t have to search far and wide for the meaning of life–it’s written down for us, and it’s called The Bible.   Unfortunately for most in our culture, they see it as an old document not worth reading.  I venture to say that those with that opinion most likely have never really tried to read it, study it, or apply it.  The testimony of my life is that IT WORKS!

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT

OR AS DESPERATELY NEEDED IN OUR HOMES TODAY:

Let’s take our responsibility seriously, folks.  It’s not just about quoting scripture when it’s convenient–it’s living out what we know is TRUE and RIGHT.

But as for you, continue in what you have learned and firmly believed. You know those who taught you, and you know that from childhood you have known the sacred Scriptures, which are able to give you wisdom for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.”
