"Christ is King" was originally Jesus is King, a hip-hop album by Kanye West. Eventually, it got changed to "Christ is King." A lot of folks, including politicians and YouTubers and everyone, say it—because everyone can say "Christ is King." Protestants, Catholics, Mormons, Orthodox, you name them, they can say "Christ is King" because it's not offensive and it's ecumenical. You're not actually calling Him God or saying He's, in fact, a deity; you're just saying He's a leader. Well, He's not yet King.

People also say it's an antisemitic phrase. I've seen Holocaust videos of a person discussing murdered Jews, and some fella in the comment section is spamming "Christ is King."

Matthew 10:16 “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.”

The Lord said in Matthew 10:16, "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." What's spamming "Christ is King" to a non-believing Jew going to do to them? You think telling them about His kingship is going to make them convert to Christianity? What would that legitimately do? What were you thinking? "Yep, saving Jews!"

What do you think a Jewish person thinks about Christianity when they post a memorial photo of their dead dad, and some Gentile in the comments is saying "Christ is King"? What does that do? When Paul went and talked to Jews, he used the Old Testament. When Paul talked to the Greeks, he used philosophy. He didn't just tell either "Christ is King." That does nothing. You aren't being wise. You're rejecting what Christ told you to do.

Genesis 12:3 “And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”

Romans 11:25-29

Numbers 24:8 “God brought him forth out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn: he shall eat up the nations his enemies, and shall break their bones, and pierce them through with his arrows.”

Bless Jews: Genesis 12:3, Romans 11:25–29, Numbers 24:7... read all those.

Deuteronomy 33:4 to 33:5: “Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob. And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together.”

Back to Christ being King. The King James Bible makes its opinion clear on Christ's kingship. Deuteronomy 33:4 to 35: "Moses commanded us a law, even the inheritance of the congregation of Jacob. And he was king in Jeshurun, when the heads of the people and the tribes of Israel were gathered together." This is the first time in the Bible God is called a King.

1 Samuel 10:17 to 19: And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh;

And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you:

And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.

The first time God is ever clearly called the King of Israel is in 1 Samuel. If you don't know the Judges situation, it is this: God was King over all Israel, and His right-hand man was a person called a judge. That was His enforcer; that was His capo. But the Jews didn't like the judges because, you see, Samuel was the last judge, and he was a great man, but not his sons. They weren't great men.

So they looked at his sons and looked at all the other nations, and wanted to emulate them. Watch my brother in Christ Ed Colson's video for a great video on that. They wanted to emulate the Gentile nations and have a king and a royal family, so they asked Samuel to end the judge system and get a king.

Let's read 1 Samuel 10:17–19: "And Samuel called the people together unto the LORD to Mizpeh; And said unto the children of Israel, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought up Israel out of Egypt, and delivered you out of the hand of the Egyptians, and out of the hand of all kingdoms, and of them that oppressed you: And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself saved you out of all your adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him, Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands."

1st Samuel 12:11-17 And the LORD sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and ye dwelled safe.

So God was a King over Israel until they rejected Him. Now let's look at what God says more in 1 Samuel 12: "And they cried unto the LORD, and said, We have sinned, because we have forsaken the LORD, and have served Baalim and Ashtaroth: but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee. And the LORD sent Jerubbaal, and Bedan, and Jephthah, and Samuel, and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and ye dwelled safe. And when ye saw that Nahash the king of the children of Ammon came against you, ye said unto me, Nay; but a king shall reign over us: when the LORD your God was your king. Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.

"If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God: But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers. Now therefore stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes."

Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain; that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is great, which ye have done in the sight of the LORD, in asking you a king.

So God was their King, and they rejected Him. They wanted a physical king, a royal family. Now the Lord Jesus Christ returning, and coming from the line of David, and becoming the God-King on the throne of David is beautiful because it restores what was stolen from God. The Lord has a right claim to the throne.

But that's the thing: the first time God is ever described as King is Him ruling over His physical country of Israel, and He was rejected in the Old Testament. Christ was born King of the Jews. In the New Testament, remember what happens in 1 Samuel 10 when Jews rejected God? The Lord temporarily gives up being King.

Jesus Christ is God, and Christ was not King over Israel because they rejected Him. Let's look back at the New Testament. Remember, the first time God is ever described as a King, it is over the physical nation of Israel. The Lord Jesus Christ being a descendant of David rightfully makes Him in line for the throne, but there's a difference between being an heir and being a king.

King Charles III is the King of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. His son, Prince William, is in line for the throne, but he is not a king until King Charles III dies.

Matthew 4:8:

Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; 9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me

And the Bible says this. Turn your Bible to Matthew 4. Matthew 4:8: "Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; and saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me."

Why would the devil give it to Him if He's already a King? If I walk into your house, and I grab your car keys, and I say, "If you give me $10, I will let you buy your car," it would be ridiculous. Satan is the greatest tempter of all time, attempting to get God in the flesh to sin, and he's tempting Christ on something He, quote-unquote, "already has"? It doesn't make sense unless He doesn't actually have the car yet.

And Christ is not a King yet. Remember in the Old Testament, God is only King over the physical nation of Israel until they rejected Him and got Saul instead.

John 19:15 “But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.”

And what happened during the Pontius Pilate hearings? The Jewish leaders rejected Christ, which per the Old Testament means that God isn't King, because God has been rejected. Satan is the greatest tempter of all time, the greatest enemy to God. He's not going to tempt Christ on something He already has. Satan knows Christ isn't King yet.

Revelation 11, the two witnesses' journey during the seven-year tribulation is described—you know, Moses and Elijah. Remember, the first time God is ever called King in the Bible, is it in a verse preceding Moses? I'll read the verses describing their death to the resurrection.

Revelation 11:7-9 And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves.

Notice the last verse: "Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned." God hasn't reigned before this. He isn't a King before this. If you do not reign, you are not a king.

Let's look at Daniel. This is a mirror chapter mirroring Revelation 11's capturing of the kingdom.

*I mean Daniel 7 has some of Revelations 11 in it.

Daniel 7:7 to 28

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it; and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns.

Daniel 7 to 28. And pay attention that the Ancient of Days, God the Father, is not an active King. The kingdom is given to the Father, which makes Him King, but He is not a King before the kingdom.

"After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns."

Now notice, this is Revelation 19—you know, the beast. But notice this also: what does the Bible say?

Daniel 7:12

We're just skipping this until we get to the 18th verse: "But the saints of the most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever, even for ever and ever."

“Then I would know the truth of the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others, exceeding dreadful, whose teeth were of iron, and his nails of brass; which devoured, brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with his feet;”

Daniel 7:9

He sits on the throne. The Ancient of Days did sit. In the whole Bible, kings are connected to thrones, and the Ancient of Days isn't sitting on the throne until Revelation 11, where Moses and Elijah die. And the Ancient of Days isn't even given the kingdoms until Moses and Elijah die.

And look outside: Moses and Elijah haven't died yet. You can't even say the kingdom is God's yet. Christ is not King yet.

But you may say, "Well, He's King of kings, no?" He is, amen. However, what does "King of kings" mean? He's the best King to ever exist.

Revelation 11:15 “And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

Was the King of kings a King before He sat on the throne, before the kingdom was given to Him? Every verse that reads "King of kings" in the Bible is:

A: speaking prophetically of the time which God is given the kingdom;

B: speaking prophetically of the time after God is given the kingdom.

1 Timothy 6:15 “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;”

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

Revelation 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.

1 Timothy 6:15: "Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;"

Revelation 17:14: "These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful."

Revelation 19:16: "And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

He can't be King until He has a kingdom. Israel rejected Him as King, and the only times that He is ever referred to as King of kings are prophetic instances where He is already reigning over the earth.

“What about [VERSE]”

Let's see some verses that call Him Christ King, and let's go over all of them.

Colossians 1:13: “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

That is speaking of the Kingdom of God, which Paul wrote in Romans 14:17:

“For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.”

Colossians 1:13: "Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:" That is speaking of the kingdom of God, which Paul wrote in Romans 14:17: "For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost."

The kingdom of God and the kingdom of heaven are separate. The latter, the kingdom of heaven, is the physical kingdom set up in Revelation 19 or other verses such as Daniel 7. You could say "Christ is King over my personal life." Amen, He should be. But "Christ is King" does not mean Christ is King over my personal decisions; it means Christ is King over the whole earth.

Matthew Chapter 17:23 to 25:

And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry.

And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute?

He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

Another verse: Matthew chapter 17:23–25: "And they shall kill him, and the third day he shall be raised again. And they were exceeding sorry. And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? He saith, Yes. Jesus calls Himself the son of the King here, and that is true. Remember the Old Testament: God reigned and ruled over Israel. They rejected Him, and God temporarily ceased His kingship over them. God was born King of the Jews, however they rejected Him. It hasn't happened yet of this verse, and God temporarily ceased His kingship over them.

You can't understand Christ being a King without understanding it in action in 1 Samuel and the dynamics at play with God and the Jews.

Hebrews 1:8:

“But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.”

Psalm 45 is a Psalm about the Marriage Supper, which occurs after the Kingdoms are given to God.

Hebrews 1:8: "But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom." It's a cross-reference to Psalm 45, specifically a Psalm about the Marriage Supper of the Lamb after God has given the kingdoms. It gets rid of the Hebrews 1:8 thing.

Zechariah 9:9: “Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.”

Zechariah 9:9: "Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass."

Now this is a prophecy that played out in real time. Remember that prophecy happened. But as in 1 Samuel, God was a King unto them, the Lord Jesus Christ was a King unto them. However, the Lord was rejected, and God temporarily ceased His kingship, such as in 1 Samuel with Saul.

1st Timothy 6:13-16

Notice when the time is said that this will occur: "That thou shouldest keep this commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ." It's a reference to 1 Thessalonians 4, Jude 1:24: "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy."

Keep reading, that verse goes to the tribulation: "Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords." "Which in his times he shall shew." The verse goes from the church going up to what happens after the church goes up: seven-year tribulation. 1 Timothy 6 is obscure, but it's clear if you read it. So, "which in his times he shall shew"—what's His times? The end of the tribulation.

Daniel 7:14 “And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.”

“And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

1 Samuel 8:7 “And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.”

Let's summarize: The King of kings is not a King now. He will become King one day. "Christ is King" is not accurate, as Christ is not King. He's rejected, such as He was in the Old Testament. Until the voice moves from Moses to God, He won't become King. Christ is not King yet.

Who has the Kingdoms currently that will one day be seized by God?

Satan.

If God becomes a King by taking the kingdoms from Satan, then who is a king, as of now?

Satan.

So tell me, why do people want Christians to say "Christ is King"? Because Christ isn't King. There will be a Christ who comes up and says, "I'm a king," and he'll be on the earth, and he'll be an Antichrist. Christ doesn't have the kingdom yet. Satan owns the kingdoms. But Christ, the true Jesus Christ, is not King, but He will be.
