Whiter than Snow - Jewell Utt

    Purify me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
    Cleanse me, and I will be whiter than snow. Psalms 51:7

    In a heavy snowstorm the threat of power loss, damaged trees, and hazardous roads plague the news and our thoughts. Yet the risky white flakes leave behind an awesome landscape of brightness, glistening in the sunlight. Whether you love winter or prefer spring, you can’t deny the beauty outside.

    But take care

    Dangers lie below the surface—rocky terrain and unstable wetlands—causing us to tread carefully so we don’t get hurt.

    When entering the presence of God, we should likewise tread carefully; taking an inventory of our thoughts and what lies beneath our lovely appearance. Sometimes we look bright and beautiful on the outside while concealing a heart in need of cleansing, which at times is even hidden from us.

    King David knew the importance of
    honest self-evaluation.

    Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being, and in secret
    You will make wisdom known to me. Psalm 51:6

    God wants us aware of our thought life; the things running through our minds unchecked. Because poor internal dialog can pollute our subconscious.

    For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. Proverbs 23:7

    You and I casually allow negative thoughts, fear, and doubt to stroll freely in the recesses of our minds; making lists of people with whom we’re angry, while rehearsing what we’d say to straighten them out. We all do it.

    God desires truth in our inmost being and that means recognizing our thoughts and turning to the wholesome mindset He requires. When we ask, He’ll reveal the sin we so easily dismiss. Like sticks and stones, thoughts won’t hurt our bodies, but they will destroy our minds, and thus, harden our hearts.

    Our innermost thoughts betray the truth of our character to God, and to us. He knows our heart and that’s where cleansing begins. When we enter His presence—in Spirit and in Truth—asking Him to purify us with hyssop,

    He will surely make us whiter than snow.

        Community Blend has come a long way in 2021.
