Who Really Coined 'Bloodless Gospel'? Debunking Robert Breaker's Ruckman Myth
Robert Breaker says that Dr. Peter S. Ruckman COINED and USED the term, bloodless gospel.
No, he didn't.
The first usage of “bloodless gospel” is from Charles Phillips, a Protestant lawyer who defended the Roman Catholic Church and Catholics in the United Kingdom.
He defended them so much, he was regularly invited to Roman Catholic parties and dinners.
“He took a considerable part in the agitation for Roman Catholic emancipation. In 1813 he was presented with a national testimonial, and was publicly thanked by the Catholic Board. O'Connell eulogised him warmly, and Phillips almost exhausted the vocabulary of praise in his public references to his panegyrist.” , Dictionary of National Biography
Charles Phillips originally coined bloodless gospel in October 1820.
I will first show you how ecumenical he was, before I show you that fateful speech.

Robert Breaker uses the term “bloodless gospel” to refer to people who preach the blood is received through the sinner's prayer. He says he learned it from his father who audited PBI classes. This is dubious, look at “Debunking Robert Breaker's Fake 'Mountain of Evidence' (Dr. Ruckman 'preaching the blood' Audio),” I made that video. And he says that his father heard Dr. Ruckman in the late 1970s to early 1980s using this term. Breaker even allegedly heard Dr. Ruckman use this term himself in 1995 to 1998, too! But there's no documented footage or writing of Dr. Ruckman using this term. We have 1950s to 2000 compilations, we have books, none, nada, he doesn't say it anywhere. Robert Breaker hasn't even provided proof for this, let alone out of context audio or book quotes he loves to do.
Robert Breaker: What is the true gospel of salvation? It's the bloodstained gospel. You can't go leaving out the blood. That's what new versions of the Bible do, they leave out the blood. So, I don't preach a bloodless gospel, but a lot of people today do. What is this bloodless gospel? Well, one of the things that's a bloodless gospel is to say, “Hey, ask Jesus in your heart.” Have you ever heard anybody say that? Do you know that's not in the Bible anywhere?
It should be clarified that Charles H. Spurgeon said:

I am guessing that would be the likeliest way he'd find out about this term. Ruckman found the sermon [term] through Charles Spurgeon
If Dr. Ruckman, doc, found the sermon through Charles Spurgeon, who preached it in a sermon containing the sinner's prayer, why would he logically make it about a sinner's prayer being preached in a bloodless gospel? Being preached as a bloodless gospel? There's nothing to support it, and there's not even any recording of Dr. Ruckman ever saying bloodless gospel, let alone the teaching which Breaker would support (his Milton gospel).

“And the blood shall be to you for a token.” , Exodus xii. 13.
I'm not a Calvinist, I just want to say that before I read this. This is from The Sacred Love,Token, August 22, 1875. Let's read the statements before the bloodless gospel.
The sprinkled blood preserved the houses of the Israelites; and it is the blood of Jesus accepted by us, relied upon, and applied to our consciences which delivers us from death. This sprinkling, moreover, was done in a very public manner; they stained the lintel and the two side posts, so that every passer-by might see it, yea, and must see it. So salvation is promised not alone to believing, but to confession with the mouth. “He that with his heart believeth, and with his mouth maketh confession of him shall be saved;” and so the grand commission at the end of the gospel by Mark puts it, not “he that believeth shall be saved,” but “he that believeth and is baptised shall be saved;” for if we believe in Christ we must not be ashamed of him. Shame about faith would argue insincerity of faith. True faith in the Saviour is so potent a principle of our lives that it must be seen whether we publish it or no, and we must be willing that it should be seen: yea, this should be the most visible point in our lives, our glory and our delight, that we do indeed believe in the Saviour Jesus Christ. Oh that every one of you, my dear hearers, used the cross for its proper purpose! I grieve that any among you should need to have it asked of you—

Let's compare Spurgeon to Breaker
Let's compare Spurgeon to Breaker. I'll have the audio play.
Robert Breaker: ...is to confess with their mouth that the Lord is Jesus, or Jesus is the Lord. Wouldn't that be Israel? So when I read Romans 10, I see Jews asking Paul, “Hey, what about Israel?” And he says, “Well, if a guy is is a Jew, and he has confessed that Jesus is his Lord, that Jesus is his Messiah, and if he believes that God hath raised Him from the dead, well then he can be saved.” So if he believes in who and what, then he'll be saved. I don't think he's telling you you have to do both, and that you have to say with the mouth or you're not saved. If he's saying you have to believe from your heart in something and say it with your mouth at the same time, then that would be a faith plus works gospel, and that would nullify what Jesus did, because it's not just what He did, it's what you say, which would be a work.
Also, I do not agree with the idea that you have to publicly confess Jesus Christ to be saved. You have to believe in His death, burial, and resurrection, and ask God to save you. You have to receive what He did on the cross, His death, burial, and resurrection, and receive that through asking Him to save you. You don't have to make it a public thing. I don't agree with Spurgeon on that. Spurgeon says later in the sermon...
I. First, then, the blood shall be to you for a token, A DISTINGUISHING TOKEN. You could tell where the Israelite dwelt, for the blood mark was there that night; you knew the Egyptian's abode, for he knew nothing of the token. Nothing so truly distinguishes a genuine Christian as the blood of Jesus Christ. Where the blood is not believed in nor prized there you have dead Christianity, for “the blood is the life thereof.” A bloodless gospel is a lifeless gospel; if the atonement be denied or frittered away, or put into a secondary place, or obscured, in that proportion the life has gone out of the religion which is professed. He then says at the very end of the sermon, which, according to Breaker, is a bloodless gospel: “Let your trembling faith layer soak in the precious blood, and then say, ‘I believe thee, Jesus, and I tell the world I do believe thee. Sinner as I am, thy precious blood was shed for me, and I trust in thee alone.’ Thus you crimson the lintel and the door post. Let all men know that who at wherever you may have been, and wherever you now are, you do now believe in the substitutionary blood. All men know that wherever you may have been, and wherever you now are, you do now believe in the substitutionary death of Jesus, oppose you who may.”
We can know that it is a sinner's prayer, because earlier he said that salvation was belief plus vocal confession. Now what did he say earlier? You have to believe in the blood, and you have to ask God to save you. Believing wasn't enough for Spurgeon. He didn't say just that. Now the statement which Breaker loves to quote comes from a sermon preaching a sinner's prayer. He preaches a vocal sinner's prayer. Does that sound like he supports Breaker, with what he says in the sermon versus what Breaker teaches? Spurgeon said it was a mandatory vocalization thing. Spurgeon doesn't say it was a mandatory after report after being saved. It isn't a cookie. Watch my cookie studies, if you're confused by that.
