Why does the Lord help His people? Part-2 - Raising Zion

There are many wonderful testimonies of people who have experienced the Lord as their help. The Old Testament for example, is filled with kings and common people alike, who were helped of the Lord. King David, King Jehoshaphat, Gideon, Daniel, Joseph, people of Nineveh, Noah… the list would go on.

Moving on, let’s take a look at the second part of why the Lord helps His people: 🙌

They wait on the Lord

Wait on the Lord means patiently hoping in His mercy and His time. Those who wait on theLord will fly like eagles the Word of God says. Isaiah 40:31. David in his psalms says, he waited patiently on the Lord in prayer and He heard him. Psalms 40:1. Patience always pays. Not everyone likes waiting, but those who wait patiently on the Lord will be rewarded. Our soul waiteth for the Lord: he is our help and our shield. Psalms‬ ‭33:20.

No covetousness in them

Being covetous means being greedy. That is, not satisfied with what the Lord has given. Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. Hebrews‬ ‭13:5‬. Only when we learn to be happy and contented with what we have, can we really proclaim — The Lord is my Helper. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me. Hebrews‬ ‭13:6‬.

They find their help in God

Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. Psalms‬ ‭63:7‬. King David acknowledged the fact that the Lord was his help. He had a heart of gratitude for all that the Lord did for him — in his kingdom and during his ruling period. That’s why he could rejoice in the shadow of His wings. All those who experience the Lord as their help have never been put to shame.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalms‬ ‭27:1‬.

May the Lord help us!

Do You Feel Accepted or Rejected?

I went to bed, pulled the covers over my head, and had a big ole pity party. Once again, I had been rejected…come in second place…told I wasn’t quite what “they” were looking for. The scarlet letter loomed large. It wasn’t an A like Hester Prynne’s in Nathaniel Hawthorne’s book I had read in high school, but a big fat R that I chose to wear when life turned ugly. Read more...

    Sleeping and Waiting

Sleep is crucial to our health. It’s our body’s time to restore itself and make sure we’re ready for the day ahead! Waiting, in a way, is like the “sleep” portion of our faith. While we wait, God works. And imagine all the incredible work He’s doing!
