Here are 10 Powerful Scriptures to Help You to FILL Up When You Are Empty. #fillup #full #empty #hope #encouragement #discouraged

I really like that word.

Moreover, I like a FULL tank of gas, a FULL stomach, a FULL bank account, and a FULL life.

More than likely, you enjoy things being FULL in your life as well.

10 Scriptures to Help You to FILL Up

The Bible mentions being full, filled up, and filling up many times throughout both of the testaments.

When “filling” is mentioned in scripture, it can mean all sorts of great things:

  • To be made full.

  • Or, to occupy to full capacity.

  • Also, to satiate.

  • In the same fashion, to have plenty.

  • By the same token, to meet the needs.

  • Or, to satisfy.

Indeed, our God is a God who fills, satisfies, meets needs, satiates and gives us plenty. Click To Tweet

Possibly, you have some empty places in your life right now?

Maybe there is an ache deep within your soul that no one even knows about?

Be encouraged today that your God is able to abundantly fill the empty places and to meet the needs that you have.

Of course, He wants to fill you back up!

‘The Lord passed in front of Moses, calling out,

“Yahweh! The Lord!
The God of compassion and mercy!
I am slow to anger
and FILLED with unfailing love and faithfulness.’

God is filled with unfailing love and faithfulness. Furthermore, He is the God of compassion and mercy, and He loves you.

Just as He encouraged Moses, He also wants to encourage you.

“For it was I, the Lord your God,
who rescued you from the land of Egypt.
Open your mouth wide, and I will FILL IT with good things.”

Just as the Lord rescued the Children of Israel from Egypt, He will also rescue you!

Additionally, He invites us to open our mouths wide so that He might fill them with good things!

“He FILLS my life with good things.
My youth is renewed like the eagle’s!”

In this Psalm, David testifies that God fills his life with good things.

I also love the second part of the verse – God renews our youth like the eagles.

“For he satisfies the thirsty
and FILLS the hungry with good things.”

In this Psalm, we are reminded that our God satisfies those who are thirsty and fills the hungry with good things.

Whether actual hunger and thirst or emotional hunger and thirst, our God is able to meet our needs. Click To Tweet

    teach me your decrees.”

“Return to the Lord your God,
for he is merciful and compassionate,
slow to get angry and FILLED with unfailing love.
He is eager to relent and not punish.”

What an encouraging message!

The prophet Joel reminded the people of God’s patience, mercy, and compassion. Oh, how He loves you. How patient He is.

And, how He is filled with unfailing love. Return to Him. Truly, He loves you and doesn’t want to punish you.

“At the sound of Mary’s greeting, Elizabeth’s child leaped within her, and Elizabeth was FILLED with the Holy Spirit.”

As we move into the New Testament, we begin to see instances of people being filled with the Holy Spirit. We are told that Elizabeth was filled with the Spirit. In fact, as baby John heard Mary’s greeting, he leaped in her womb.

When we come into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, we can enjoy this filling of the Spirit.

Moreover, the Holy Spirit is a comforter, a guide, and One who prays for us when we don’t know how to pray. (Romans 5:5; Romans 8:26)

“Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be FILLED with the Holy Spirit.”

In this passage, Paul reminds the church at Ephesus to walk wisely.

He tells them not to be drunk with wine, but to be filled with the Holy Spirit instead.

So, what does that really mean?

In simple terms, to be filled with the Spirit is to completely surrender your life to Christ and allow Him to have control.

On a regular basis, Adrian Rogers used to say, “I vacate; God occupies.”

As an example, you might pray this way, “Lord, I want to be full of You! I give you my life and repent of my sin. Also, I lay down all control. And, I ask You to fill me with Your Spirit. I want to be full of You.”

More than anything – Holy Spirit filling comes with total and complete surrender. Click To Tweet

When we give everything over to God, we get out of the way. Also, as we empty ourselves, and He is able to fill us up to overflowing.

“And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us because he has given us the Holy Spirit to FILL our hearts with his love.”

Because God loves us so much, He has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with His love!

When we are feeling empty and unloved, we can turn to the Spirit for both love and filling. In fact, we are promised that this is a HOPE that will not disappoint.

“I pray that God, the source of hope, will FILL you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.”
