Yes, money failed in Egypt! I am sure you have read that in the bible in Genesis 47:15. I am sure you are wondering what made money fail and you probably want to know how that practically applies to you and your finances.

Why money failed in Egypt

Money failed in Egypt because the famine in the land was, according to the bible, sore and very severe. The people of the land and surrounding countries have exhausted all their money to purchase food from the stores of Joseph and Pharaoh.

So they came to Joseph and made that interesting statement that money has failed.

Looking critically at the situation

Let us look critically at the situation of the Egyptians in those days.

There were seven years of plenty in Egypt and Joseph stored extra foodstuff in many stores. When the seven years famine arrived, Joseph and Pharaoh had so much foodstuff to sell to the people of the land.

Now, the people used all the money they had to buy from Joseph and Pharaoh because the famine was severe. They had no money left and they said to Joseph, that money has failed.

Because they were buying and were not selling or making income at that time, money got exhausted and it tailed.

Why you must begin to sell

You must begin to sell. You will have a continuous inflow of income if you are selling products or services.

I want you to read the Bible account of the story below:

Genesis 47:13-17
[13]Now there was no bread in all the land; for the famine was very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.
[14]And Joseph gathered up all the money that was found in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, for the grain which they bought; and Joseph brought the money into Pharaoh’s house.
[15]So when the money failed in the land of Egypt and in the land of Canaan, all the Egyptians came to Joseph and said, “Give us bread, for why should we die in your presence? For the money has failed.”
[16]Then Joseph said, “Give your livestock, and I will give you bread for your livestock, if the money is gone.”
[17]So they brought their livestock to Joseph, and Joseph gave them bread in exchange for the horses, the flocks, the cattle of the herds, and for the donkeys. Thus he fed them with bread in exchange for all their livestock that year.

Let me analyze the passage to show you more clearly why you must begin to sell or why you must be an entrepreneur who has products and services to sell.

• :There was a famine in the land. It was a severe famine.

•  Joseph was selling at this stage. He was selling food to the people. The people were coming to him to buy food.

• When you have quality products or services to sell, people will come to you with their money

• The Egyptians used all their money to buy corn and they had nothing left. The reason why they said money has falled.

So in the land of Egypt, money failed and there was no money but in the hands of Joseph and the palace of Pharaoh, there was plenty of money. Verse 14 in the passage above said, Joseph packed all money in Egypt and Canaan to the palace of Pharaoh. Did you observe that?

There will always be money in the hands of an entrepreneur or someone who always has quality products and services to sell.

Money failed in Egypt: You must be a seller

I pray money will not fail in your hands and your house in Jesus name. Amen.

But you have to understand you can’t just continue to buy other people’s products and services without you selling something to others.

You will always run into debts if you are a buyer-only person and not a seller. What can you begin to buy and sell? I will look at that in a future post.
