My thoughts about the Amalekites

Well, just before I show you who the Amalekites are, let me tell you the interesting revelation I got about this tribe that was perpetual enemies of the Israelites.

Oh, I just revealed a part of who they are there. But don’t worry, you still have to know more. The Amalekites were the perpetual enemies of the children of Israel.

I got the following revelation about these people:

Confrontation Israel

They came up to fight the children of Israel after they left Egypt. To me, that was a senseless confrontation.

The children of Israel were not going to possess their land so why the needless confrontation against God’s people? The Israelites were on their way to the promised land and all of a sudden the Amalekites came from nowhere to fight the children of God.

Look at the way the bible puts it.

Exodus 17:8

[8]Now Amalek came and fought with Israel in Rephidim.

That was senseless and that got them the following angry declaration from God.

Exodus 17:14
[14]Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”

God’s angry declaration

God said He would wipe them away from the surface of the earth. God said He would always be an enemy to them from generation to generation.

That was tough but they cursed it. They got engaged in a needless war against God’s people.

Read again what God said about the Amalekites:

Exodus 17:14
[14]Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will utterly blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.”

And

Exodus 17:15-16
[15]And Moses built an altar and called its name, The-Lord-Is-My-Banner;
[16]for he said, “Because the Lord has sworn: the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

This prophecy came to pass. Of course, because God said, it must surely come to pass.

Now, enough of what I got about the Amalekites. Just who are the Amalekites?

Who are the Amalekites? : Read it below

The Amalekites are members of an ancient nomadic tribe whose stories were told in the Old Testament of the Bible as perpetual enemies of Israel.

The Amalekites were closely related to Ephraim, who is one of the 12 tribes of Israel. I believe that should interest or surprise you. How can they turn themselves into arch enemies of their brothers and sisters?

The Amalekites district covers the south of Judah and probably extended into northern Arabia.

God helped Israel defeat the Amalekites

As I have mentioned above, The Amalekites harassed the children of Israel during their movement from Egypt to the promised land. They attacked them at Rephidim near Mount Sinai, where God helped Joshua and his men of war defeated them.

Moses, Aaron, and Hur offered spiritual help on the mountain while Joshua and his men were fighting physically on the war front. You can read this beautiful story in Exodus Chapter 17.

The Amalekites were also roundly defeated by Gideon. Samuel condemned them to annihilation. Their final defeat happened during the time of Hezekiah as God has declared.

I hope you love this. Please share with your friends. I pray God will help you crush every open or secret battle against you in Jesus name. Amen.
