Know Who You Are, Know What You Have

Last Thursday morning, I was in a place of pure joy anticipating the second night of the Virtual Book Club. So many great testimonies came out Tuesday’s event, so many blessed by our special guests. You could sense that chains were beginning to break. I knew Thursday’s session would give someone the freedom to finally, finally, finally, live on purpose. But due to technical difficulties beyond our control, it had to be postponed.

Remember What It Takes

It should have been devastating for me, but it wasn’t.

Because I know what God told me.

I know what he told me about this book.

I know how sharing his gift healed my family and how he said it would heal others.

]Unlike Cain tin the Bible, I remembered what it took to get here not knowing at first what it would take to get here. His story could not become my story.

Cain, the first born of a womb…

“With the help of the Lord I have brought forth a man.” ~Genesis 4:1 New International Version

Cain, the one gifted by God to work in the soil from which his father Adam was formed…

Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. ~Genesis 2:7 NIV

Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil. ~Genesis 4:2b NIV

I wonder… Did Cain truly know the favor on his life before he made such a meager offering to the Lord? You wouldn’t think so based on his behavior.

In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the Lord. ~Genesis 4:3 NIV

Cain was the first created through divine and human collaboration. Cain was the first fruit of Adam’s seed. There was none other like him.

There’s none other like you either.

Favor, with Responsibility

No other divine DNA is like yours.

No other amalgam of flesh and Spirit woven together like you.

You are uniquely, fearfully, wonderfully made.

Do you know what it means to be uniquely, fearfully, and wonderfully made?

It’s favor with responsibility.

You are a representation of God’s first fruit in the earth, and God will not accept leftovers from one gifted to be his first fruit.

Last Thursday night, the offering God wanted was not to host Virtual Book Club, but to bath in prayer and supplication every heart that had decided to be in that Zoom Room. He wanted the calling on everyone who was willing to attend to be covered. He wanted me to plead the Blood of Jesus and get out of my feelings.

I call that a successful night!

It was just three of us – April our hostess, Minister Kelly our guest, and me on a phone call. Just three sistas talking about the goodness of God. Three sistas praying for the breaking of chain. Three sistas calling on Heaven to do in the lives of our attendee’s list what no other power can do. The Master, our Lord, our God ordered a shift in the atmosphere any we offered up to Him all we had to give in the moment.

And it was enough.

Devil, you were defeated.

It Is Time to Rise

Thursday was a reminder to me that Heaven does not ask us for perfection. Just he courage to be obedient. To shift, to trust, to do

what God says,

when God says,

how God says,

and whether God tells us why or not.

God did not call you and I to live like Cain – unappreciative of the Father who favors us. We are called to rise to the occasion like his brother, Abel. Why? Because we are able. We can make God smile. We can take our little and make much for his glory. When we know we are able… know we can give and do great things… God will use us to give and do great things even if its not a part of our plan:

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us… ~Ephesians 3:20 NIV

No matter what happens, what sidetracks or delays you,

remember what God told you. His power is still working within you.

God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind.
Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill? ~Numbers 23:19 NIV

At the beginning of this blog, I said, “I knew Thursday’s session would give someone the freedom to finally, finally, finally, live on purpose.” I still believe it to be true. As we close out this month’s theme, “Searching for More”, I hope we all realize that the more we’ve been looking for rests in the favor we must choose to never forget.
