The New Year

“Do you have any hopes for the New Year?” A friend of mine asked. It was a beautiful sunny day with a bright blue sky. I took a breath of fresh air and thought about what she said. It wasn’t a “New Year’s resolutions” question as such; it was a question that made me feel like I could have hope.

What is the question that would prompt your heart to start dreaming? Could you allow yourselves the opportunity to be free? If you were to check, what are your heart’s desires? Psalm 37:4 says, “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalms 37:4 (ESV)

It is great to have an idea or a plan for your future, but those plans are always in better care when we give them to the Lord. As He makes them visible in our lives: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.” Proverbs 16:9 Jesus is a good Shepherd and guides you where you need to go.

As you navigate the roads of life in the days ahead, may you feel you have hope. You might feel relieved and like the old things are turning out to be new. Know that Jesus will guide you where you need to go, and He is beside you. Claim Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
