John 8 vs 4-7 4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now Moses in the law commanded us, that such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? 6 This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. 7 So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. John 12 vs 47 47 And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.
- There was a popular story of a woman who was caught in the very act of adultery.
- By all standards, the act of adultery is a sin.
- The people who caught the woman wanted to stone her to death, but Jesus restrained them.
- Jesus said he that has not sinned should cast the first stone and none of her accusers could cast the stone.
- This shows that her accusers were wrong in accusing her.
- In John 8:11. Jesus said that he had not come to condemn anyone but to seek the repentance of the sinners.
- Anyone who condemns sinners and wants to pass physical or spiritual judgment on them is sinning.
- The lesson from these passages is that no one has the right to condemn and execute judgment on anybody because of a perceived sin.
