A River of Life Flows in the Divine Nature

The river flows in the middle of the street of the New Jerusalem [Rev. 22:1]. The street of the holy city is gold [21:21], which signifies the divine nature. The river of water of life proceeding in the middle of the golden street indicates that the divine life flows in the divine nature as the unique way for the daily life of God’s redeemed people. Where the divine life flows, there is the divine nature as the holy way by which God’s people walk; and where the holy way of the divine nature is, there the divine life is flowing.

New JerusalemThe divine life, the divine nature, and the holy way are all found in Jesus Christ. He is all that we need and He is the physically-invisible spiritual reality today. Today He is our life (Col. 3:4). Today we are partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4). And today we are being established in holiness (1 Thes. 3:13).

These three attributes of the Triune God cannot be separated since Christ is the embodiment of the reality of all three. We have all three in this age and we are growing into more and richer experiences. The peak of these, and all the other divine attributes, will be realized in New Jerusalem.
