All Our Shame Was Nailed to a Tree - Denise Pass

Shame RX: All our shame was nailed to a tree.

Isa 53:4-5

“Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

Every year as we commemorate Good Friday, I watch the story of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice because I never want to casually recall the greatest demonstration of love ever shown by our loving God. And this year, I was thinking of you.

Those who have read Shame Off You have tasted some of the freedom Christ has for us, and yet shame can still deceive and trap us. My heart burns for you to truly know this freedom and to be free from shame.

Christ’s sacrifice paid it all. But sometimes we get lost and forget how to apply His lavish grace to our lives. And we get duped by shame again.

Today, as we remember when our Savior died on a cross to pay for all of our sin and shame—ALL sin. ALL shame—may we ask Him afresh to help us live out this life for His glory. May shame no longer have dominion over our souls, for we were purchased by His blood.

Shame Off Us, friends. We have been set free!
