Are you a shinning light to the World?
The brightness of a glory is determined by purity. “There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory” (1 Cor 15:41). Even the stars have varying degrees of brightness compared with one another. Scientists tell us that the nearest star to us is the sun. The yellow sun you see in the afternoon is impure.
The purest of stars is white in colour. In the same vein, there are basically three kinds of flame: The red flame which comes from firewood, the blue flame which comes from a gas cooker and the white flame which comes from the welder’s instrument. If you mistakenly touch red flame, it will burn you but if you immediately apply water, it may lose its damaging effect.
If you touch the blue flame from the gas cooker, the burns will be more severe. But if you put your finger into the welder’s flame, it will cut it. Similarly, you can easily gaze at both red and blue flames, but even the welder will have to cover his face when working. This is comparable with the kind of light where God dwells – an unapproachable light (1 Tim 6:16).
This explains why Joshua succeeded where Moses failed. Moses’ only impurity limiting the brightness of his light was his temper – anger. But if you look at the story of Joshua, you would hardly find a single flaw. Little wonder even in his old age, his resolve to serve the Lord with his family could not be any stronger. If you still retain a little impurity in thoughts, words, or deeds, you belong to the latter house.
Every sin in your life makes you to occupy a lesser light, with reduced brightness. If you want to radiate God’s glory unhindered, then you must look at and work on yourself. Self must go. The flesh must be crucified. Personal desires and goals must give way to His perfect will. Sin in its entirety must be out of your temple.
Are you still His light? To what extent is that light shinning? If the enemy easily touches you with fear, it is because your light is polluted.
