Bible in 365 Days – Day 123

DAY 123.png

Focus Chapters:

  • 1 Chronicles 23-25

Standout Verse(s):

1 Chronicles 24:5, 31, 25:8 NLT

All tasks were assigned to the various groups by means of sacred lots so that no preference would be shown, for there were many qualified officials serving God in the sanctuary from among the descendants of both Eleazar and Ithamar.

Like the descendants of Aaron, they were assigned to their duties by means of sacred lots, without regard to age or rank. Lots were drawn in the presence of King David, Zadok, Ahimelech, and the family leaders of the priests and the Levites.

The musicians were appointed to their term of service by means of sacred lots, without regard to whether they were young or old, teacher or student.

Observation (s):

  1. Individuals were not appointed to positions in God’s House solely on their qualifications or the preference of the leaders.

    All tasks were assigned to the various groups by means of sacred lots so that no preference would be shown, for there were many qualified officials serving God in the sanctuary from among the descendants of both Eleazar and Ithamar.

  2. As long as individuals met the prerequisites, they were considered candidates for appointment and were required to cast sacred lots before their leaders to determine where they would be appointed.

Application:

Within our political world, leaders are often chosen through a democratic system. However, this system is fallible, as candidates have been known to bribe the voters or change themselves to appeal to the voters. Even when it comes to the voting or selection process at their peer-level, leaders have been known to campaign for votes or be chosen through stark favoritism. This should not be the case when it concerns appointments in God’s House.

Beyond the general qualifications, such as musicians being musicians and individuals being qualified, persons were selected for their relevant positions by casting sacred lots in the presence of the leaders. The casting of sacred lots provided a means for revealing God’s will through a random outcome. This removed room for favoritism and other methods that introduced ambiguity into the position appointment process.

Your physical qualifications does not necessarily equate to a spiritual qualifications. Appointments to positions within God’s House should be handled with transparency and without room for favoritism.

I am a dynamic young lady who loves the Lord and seek to have a joy that no one can take away. My all-time favourite thing to do is gaining discoveries by design from My Father during our time each day. Reading, learning and trying new things falls behind in a close second place. My dream is to use my God-given talents to positively impact as many people as possible. As a proud Wolmerian, with a zest for life, I adhere to the “Age Quod Agis” motto in that whatsoever I do, I always do it to the best of my ability.
