Proverbs 5 vs. 15-20 – Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.Let them be only thine own, and not strangers’ with thee.Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

Exodus 20 vs. 14 – Thou shalt not commit adultery.

1 kings 11 vs. 1-3: But the King Solomon loved many strange women…of the nations concerning which the Lord had said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in unto them…..and he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines, and his wives turned away his heart

Matt 5:27-28. -“Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Types of Adultery

1. Spiritual adultery

• An adulterous person is not only those who are cheating their spouse
• If you are a Christian and you also belong to an occultism society, you are committing spiritual adultery.
• If you recognize any other god apart from God Almighty, you are cheating on God and committing spiritual adultery

1. Adultery of the heart- lustful thoughts
2. Emotional adultery- intimate relationship with a woman not your wife. Closer to another more than your wife
3. Sexual Adultery- sex outside marriage

Facts about adultery

1. Israel cursed his first born because of adultery
2. David suffered because of the sin of adultery
3. David defeated Goliaths
4. But David was defeated by the Goliath of Adultery
5. The Goliath of Adultery shall not defeat you in Jesus name
6. David was the only one described by God as a man after my own heart, but an adulterous woman won his heart away from God.
7. May a strange woman not take the place of God in your life in Jesus name
8. Samson tore Lions and Bears with his hands but the lion of adultery tore him to pieces.
9. Samson was the most powerful man of earth and subdued his enemies but was consumed by the Delilah of adultery
10. The power of God in your life shall not be extinguished on the laps of a delilah in Jesus name
11. Solomon was the wisest man that ever lived on earth but the sin of adultery turned his wisdom to foolishness

Effects of adultery

Provokes the anger of God

Loss of spiritual power.

Drainer of anointing

Turns a victor into a victim.

Spiritual death- Under Mosaic Law, when a couple was caught in the act of adultery, both parties were to be killed. (Deut 22:22).

Eternal damnation

Hindrance to prayers

Hinders divine blessings

Loss of integrity

Unwanted pregnancies

Murder- David committed murder to hide his adulterous relationship

Abortions

Financial drainer

Polygamy and its evils

Vagabond children

Takes away the glory of God

Removes divine protection

Makes you prone to attack by devil

Expose you to diseases, such as AIDS, and pestilence and unwanted babies.

Curse-Reuben was cursed because of adultery

Genesis 35 vs. 22 – 22 And it came to pass, when Israel dwelt in that land, that Reuben went and lay with Bilhah his father’s concubine: and Israel heard it. Now the sons of Jacob were twelve:

Genesis 49 vs. 3-4 – 3 Reuben, thou art my firstborn, my might, and the beginning of my strength, the excellency of dignity, and the excellency of power: Unstable as water, thou shalt not excel; because thou wentest up to thy father’s bed; then defiledst thou it: he went up to my couch.

How to overcome adultery

1. Flee like Joseph
2. Make your wife or husband your best confidant
3. Don’t become too close to any woman or man that is not your wife or husband
4. Don’t have secret male or female friends
5. If you are single marry as soon as possible
6. Be contended with your wife or husband
7. Don’t keep secrets from your wife or husband . Evil strive under secrecy
8. Cut off from bad friends
9. Cut off from worldly social gatherings, parties, night clubs, etc
10. Be consumed in the things of God
11. Avoid risky situations that will keep you alone with strange women or men
12. Fast and pray to kill your flesh
13. It is possible avoid work that will separate you from your spouse for a long time
14. Watch what your watch or hear
15. Be determined to make your marriage work.
16. Settle quarrels quickly
17. Don’t deny yourselves sexually unless by mutual consent
18. Wives or husbands don’t use sex to punish your husband or wives for any offence
19. Be determined to be faithful to your wife or husband
20. Make a vow of fidelity

Prayer

• I kill the spirit of adultery in me in Jesus name
• Evil inheritance in my blood stream, be healed by the blood of Jesus.
• You spirit of polygamy in my father’s line, I reject you today in Jesus name.
• Strange woman programmed to destabilized my marriage be exposed and disgraced in Jesus name.
• I refuse to commit the mistake of Solomon in Jesus name.
  Holy spirit, tame my eyes, tongue and sexual organs from evil in Jesus name
