Notes of Daystar Christian Center sermon on God’s kingdom

Welcome to March! As we step into this new month, I want to encourage you with a key takeaway from our February series, God First. This is a truth worth remembering as we move forward—putting God first shapes everything else in our lives.

The Bible says in Matthew 6:33 (NKJV):
“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

When we become citizens of God’s kingdom, we align with a higher system—a higher culture. The concept of a kingdom may feel distant because many of us live in democracies, but God originally designed us to function as kings under His rule.

    God’s Kingdom vs. Human Government

Israel once desired a human king, rejecting God’s direct rule. Despite warnings from 1 Samuel 8:10-20 (NLT), they insisted, choosing a system prone to failure. God allowed it, yet His ultimate plan was always to reign as King over His people.

When Jesus came, He restored God’s government on earth. He preached:

    Matthew 4:17 (MSG):
“Change your life. God’s kingdom is here.”

His message was clear: A new way of life is available. A new government. A new culture. God must be our King.

Daystar Christian Center sermon on God’s kingdom: Understanding the Kingdom Mindset

Jesus often taught using the phrase:
“The Kingdom of Heaven is like…”

Many struggle with Christianity because they don’t grasp this central message. To be a Christian means to embrace the kingdom culture of God.

A simple example: If your parents or grandparents grew up in Nigeria before independence, they sang:

    “God save our gracious Queen…”

Why? Because they were under the British Kingdom. In the same way, as believers, we are under God’s rule, which shapes our values, lifestyle, and identity.

That’s why Jesus taught us to pray:

    Matthew 6:10 (MSG):
“Set the world right; do what’s best—as above, so below.”

God’s kingdom isn’t built on oppression or selfish ambition. It is built on love.

    A King Unlike Any Other

Most earthly kings demand sacrifices from their people. But our King did the opposite—He sacrificed His Son for us.

    John 3:16:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…”

That’s the kingdom we belong to. A worry-free system. A system of provision, love, and trust.

    Pray with Us

We pray that God gives us the strength to put His Kingdom first, knowing He will take care of all our needs.
