Deut 22 vs 5 – The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman’s garment: for all that do so are abomination unto the LORD thy God.
- A trouser is not mentioned in this passage, but we can substitute the word ‘garment’ for trousers.
- We need to define what is a ‘man’s’ garment and a ‘woman’s garment.
- Trousers are generally regarded as a men’s garment, though this definition varies from culture to culture, and it is also influenced by weather conditions.
- In India for instance, women wear a sort of trousers and this is like the common traditional dress.
- In Europe and Americas, both men and women need to wear thick ‘trousers’ to withstand the cold and biting weather conditions.
- In Africa, the culture and tradition frowns at wearing of trousers by women.
- Any garment you wear, whether it is trousers or gowns, what God expects is that it should be for modesty and beauty.
- It is an abomination and ungodly for women to wear sexually provocative, tight fitting, see through, and revealing garments either gowns or trousers.
- It is also an abomination if men where revealing garments.
- I will not encourage my daughter to wear trousers, unless it for occupational reasons, or weather conditions and it is sewn like ‘women’s trousers’.
