Drink the Spirit, Drink the Living Water

New JerusalemRevelation 22:1 tells us that New Jerusalem has “a river of water of life, bright as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb in the middle of its street.”

This will be our rich supply in New Jerusalem and it is also what Jesus promised us for today’s Christian life in John 4:14 and 7:38-39. Therefore, we should learn to drink the water regularly, daily, hourly.

First Corinthians 12:13 assures us, “in one Spirit we were all baptized into one Body…and were all given to drink one Spirit.” To drink the Spirit is to drink the living water because the Spirit is our spiritual water. We were given the Spirit to drink, now we need to drink. “Let him who is thirsty come; let him who wills take the water of life freely” (Rev. 22:17).

Isaiah 12 gives us multiple ways to drink this water. “You will draw water with rejoicing from the springs of salvation, and you will say in that day, give thanks to Jehovah; call upon His name! Make His deeds known among the peoples…Sing psalms to Jehovah” (vv. 3-5).

Practice, verbally, even at times with a loud voice! Thank the Lord for everything rather than begging Him to change things. Call upon His name (see Rom. 10:12-13). Declare His doings, especially His death and resurrection. Sing to Him.
