Enjoy the Journey

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
-- Proverbs 3: 5-6 (NKJV)
I suspect that most of the anxiety we experience stems from things we can’t control. We can’t control the economy or the political climate. We can’t always control our personal relationships or even our health. An illusion persists that if we could just avoid one thing or fix another, we can live the life that we desire. However, this lie can easily steal our joy.
When we trust God to direct our actions (and learn to accept closed doors), life is more enjoyable. We don’t have to forge our way—our Father created our unique paths long before we were born. It's only our responsibility to walk the course God sets before us if we want to experience a rewarding life.
It’s tempting to make decisions based on world standards, but those standards constantly change. However, God remains the same. When we nurture the talents that our Lord imparts, life becomes enjoyable as we pursue our purpose.
An entrepreneur may be destined for success because she is generous and gifted to steward her wealth appropriately. Likewise, an artist may be called to inspire others through their creativity in fine art. There are hidden talents that God plants within each of us, but we often neglect them due to a lack of confidence or the opinions of other people.
If you are unsure of the path you’ve been called to walk, ask. Allow the Spirit to guide you. It’s never too late to learn something new or bless others with our abilities. Try a new hobby, take a class, or meet new people. Unexpected opportunities arise when we step out and find out. Steps of faith can open doors we never imagined.
Our Father knows the plans that He has for us; our steps are ordered. Trust God and enjoy the journey.

Question for Reflection:
1. What area of your life have you tried to control that has only resulted in frustration? Have you asked God about it?
