Trip (L) and Kirk (R)

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

-Matthew 6:26, NIV

The DM household expanded by two this past week when Mrs. DM brought Kirk and Trip home. They are Green Cheek Conures (parrots).

These pets are curious and spunky little birds. Munchkin is over the moon having her own pets at home (which both Mrs and I are the primary caretakers, of course).

Animals make such good reminders of our God’s love for us.

They do not worry about if or when they will be fed. These creatures know they will be fed and well!

Our pets can teach a lot about living in the Presence of our Good God. He is our Provider. They help remind us that worrying is not worth the effort.

My cat, Mr. Pickles, was my “Peace Mentor.”

He taught me to “chill.” And even though he is no longer with me physically, his lessons from our time together still speak to me.

I wonder who is your “Peace Mentor?”

Is it a cat?

Is it a dog?

Is it a parrot or two?

Whoever or whatever, I believe it is good to pause and consider the animals in the world. God has given them to us to remind us that we will be okay. He cares far more about us than we could ever care about our beloved pets.
