Goals, Plans and Your Future

Plans and Goals

  • The great statesmen Yogi Berra once said, “If you don’t know where you’re going you might not get there”.

People often don’t know where they are going and what in the end will make them happy. If you don’t know what will make you happy, you will never be happy. If you know what makes you happy, but have no plan to get there then you will never be happy either.

  • So set some goals for yourself.

Think about what you really want and some possible steps to get there. Ask God about a plan for your life. You would be surprised what God might have in store for you. It might even bring you real happiness.

  • Put a plan together.

Sure bad stuff has been happening lately and things look discouraging. Sure there will be bumps in the road, but never stop striving for those things that make you happy. Never stop dreaming. A big part of planning is having dream.

  • Understand this.

Goals based around material stuff really won’t make you happy. Friendships, family and people are the only things that will bring true happiness. Make people a part of your plan.

Your plan can be as simple as setting times to get up in the morning and when to get things done. Completing simple plans can solidify your life and provide a hook on which to hang bigger goals and dreams.

  • Make a plan.

Make a daily plan, then a weekly one and then work up to planning a whole year. Get your life in motion by achieving goals that will get you where you want to go. Understand what makes you happy and plan a way to achieve happiness.

  • But don’t be overcome by your schedule.

Allow for some wiggle room and the freedom to be spontaneous. Allow for God’s help in your plan. You never know where His guidance will lead to accomplishing your goals.

  • Make a plan, have a plan and follow your plan.
