God's Hand of Protection
Encouragement
During a recent drive home after visiting our daughter, we experienced a terrifying moment. We hydroplaned off the freeway, causing our car to veer into the grassy median at a speed of 70 miles per hour. As the car squeezed between road signs, I cried out for God’s help. Miraculously, I felt God’s hands guiding and protecting us as my husband regained control and slowed down. Despite the heavy rain, I expected our car to sink into the mud, but thankfully, we pulled back up onto the shoulder. We sat there, trying to catch our breath and recover from the frightful incident.
God’s Protecting Us Always
We both felt calm in the car during the scary incident. We believed God was protecting us from crashing into other cars or sign posts. It reminded me of the verse I picked for this year: “Be strong and courageous! Don’t be afraid or discouraged. The Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9 NLT). God is always with us, even though we may not always feel it. Sometimes, it takes a close call to remember that Christ is watching over us. The outcome may not always be what we want, but we can find comfort in knowing we are never alone.
Even though we have God’s protection in our faith, it doesn’t mean that we won’t face storms in our lives. However, moments like the one we just experienced show that God is with us and gives us strength for every battle we face. The Bible provides insight into how God protects us during these storms. Below are some Bible verses to encourage you in your battles.
Additional Verses on God’s Protection
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) - “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Psalm 34:7 (NIV) - “The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him and delivers them.”
